  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm wondering about mp3 playback from a usb thumb drive and whether the place in file is remembered if the audio is switched to some other source.
Some dedicated mp3 players (like Sony Walkmans) have a podcast function where the player remembers where playback was left off on each and every file.
It's a useful function so that if you are listening to podcast A, and you switch to podcast B, then at a later time go back to podcast A you pick up from where you left off, rather than the beginning of the file. And if you switched back to Podcast B, you pick up at the right place for that.

I would expect Genesis to not have this full capability, but I'm hoping that at least if I'm listening to a podcast on a usb thumb drive and switch to radio, going back to the usb source would pick up at the right place. Kind of like switching away from the CD and coming back to the CD and continuing from where the CD left off.

Has anybody tried that?

It does not. It will remember the time signature and file when a source is switched or shut off so you may return to listening when you switch back, but not between tracks or files within the same source.

I have a 2013 R-Spec. I use a 64 GB USB stick for my music. I never remove the stick unless I need to add music to it. It DOES remember its place within an mp3 file. If I switch source and then later come back to the USB, it continues right where it left off when I switched source. It seems as if it does not miss a single note in the mp3. If I switch tracks on the USB from one mp3 to another, it does NOT remember its place, it starts at the beginning of the selected track.

But, I have no idea if the 2015 model works the same.
