  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2015 Genesis sedan and I notice that when I plug in my iphone with the factory USB charging cable in the Genesis USB plug, it very very slowly charges my phone and the phone overheats. I've tried multiple cables and they work fine in other places, but in the Genesis they all do the same thing so I'm thinking it's an issue with the car.

Anyone else run across this?

Thanks

Does your phone screen stay on while in the car? Do you run any nav software with GPS on?

What kind of phone?

...when I plug in my iphone...
:)

For my Galaxy S5, I ended up getting a 4.8 amp cig adapter with dual USB plugs, and a Samsung quick charge USB cable. This provides the same "quick charge" that the home adaptor provides. It also lets me run my dash cam and/or waze apps while still charging the battery, as the standard tickle charge current will not keep up with the drain of those apps.

It's probably a better idea to use the same type of charging option for the iPhone instead of the in-car USB port.

Iphone 5/6 or pre-5? Does the 2nd gen Genesis still require the factory 30-pin cable or is it compatible with Lightning?

The 1st gen is incompatible with the iPhone 5 & 6 Lightning cables and will cause charging behavior-- would probably lead to overheating if I left it connected..
