  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I own a 2011 genesis 4.6 and I’d like to know why won’t my iPhone charger in the usb slot won’t stay on and play music or Bluetooth won’t play music either??? Also would I be able to get apple CarPlay in that year?

Welcome. Moving this topic into the first generation Genesis section.

Car Play was released in 2014 so doubtful you will be able to use it on a 2011.

Your iPhone cannot charge from the USB port. Use the cigarette lighter port with an adapter plug to charge your phone.

If you plug a USB thumb drive into the USB port you can play mp3 music files.

I know the ‘12 sedan with the 17 speaker audio system CANNOT stream Bluetooth audio. I’m not sure about the ‘11 model year, though.

There is no way that your Nav/audio system can be updated for CarPlay.

My 2011 4.6 does not stream Bluetooth audio.

Thanks, that’s what I figured. Hyundai finally corrected that problem with the ‘13 Technology Package models.

By the way, just for the record here, in the ‘12 year both the Base (8 spkr) and Premium Package (14 spkr) sedans DID stream Bluetooth audio. The ‘12 Tech Package (17 spkrs) could not stream BT audio.

I personally don't care about Bluetooth streaming. I have 300 mp3 songs on USB flash drive in best quality and surround sound. It sounds awesome.

This logic makes no sense. But I personally don't care about Bluetooth streaming. I have 300 mp3 songs on USB flash drive in best quality and surround sounds. It sound awesome.
It’s just facts from the past. The top end 17 spkr audio system could not stream BT audio until the ‘13 year. Hardware issue.

I edited my post after re-reading yours, but you were damn quick to reply. :D
