I have a 2015 sedan with 112k miles. For about the last 20k or so Android auto connection became worse and worse.
I ended up ordering p/n 96120 b1000 from tiger direct on Amazon for about $65. This is the usb/input module.
To install this the console has to be removed.
In order to do this take the cap off of the shift release button, push the button down and shift the lever into drive.
Next pull up on the gear shift knob and it will pop loose.
Then grab the front of the panel in front of the shift lever and pull up each corner along both sides of the console. It takes quite a bit of force but it will pop up. Get both side up then I used a putty knife and pried along both sides of the panel all the way back to the arm rest. Once both sides are up lift up the panel and remove the two connectors then put this to the side.
Now disconnect the large white connector just in front of the armrest below the other two connectors that you just removed.
Now go and disconnect the two connectors jut below the panel that the has the sliding door.
Now pop off the panels on both sides in front of the console in the foot well. Use the putty knife and pry out just in front of the console then they will slide back to remove them.
Remove the two 10mm bolts, one on each side where you just removed those panels.
Now open the armrest and pop off the service cover at the bottom rear. There is a slot to stick a tool in there to pop it off. Remove the two 10mm bolts.
Now near the shifter there are two Phillips head screws that hold the console to the shifter, remove them.
The console can now be picked up at the rear and pulled back to clear the shifter.
I just tipped the front end up then and there are 4 screws that you will see. Only two of these need to be removed to take out the sliding door/usb/input panel. Take out the two screws toward the outside if I remember correctly then pop the panel out and remove the connector.
Now look at the tabs on the new part your installing, they push in. I removed the 5 small screws that hold that in along with the two 12v ports but I think you may be able to just push in the tabs on the part your going to replace and push it out without removing the screws. It was a little bit of a pain to angle and get out the port and 12v connectors out. I also removed the connectors for the 12v ports. The new part comes with a new harness. I removed the old one by putting a small screwdriver or pick beneath it to pry down the black tab then the harness connector can be slid forward to remove it.
Reassemble everything in the reverse order.
This took me about 1 HR to complete and now my USB port works properly. It used to be that if I got the USB cable in just the right spot it would connect but it was very hit or miss so I assume the connector got messed up from putting different cables into it for different phones. The port is kind of hard to reach so cables get angled in and eventually damage the connector. My advise would be to remove and replace different cables as little as possible to avoid damage in the future.
There is a video "on the line" that shows popping off the shifter panel. This is the most difficult part as it feels like something is going to break. Just pull at both front corners and get them to release first then pry along both sides as I mentioned earlier.
I hope this helps people because its pretty daunting but not all that difficult in the end.
Sorry, I don't have pics.
