  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all,

has anyone had to change out the front USB for any reason? I might have to replace it due to carplay issues

I will ask...even if I have to pay for it that’s a great idea
It is a great idea, but one that I don't think Genesis will support. They pay a license fee to Apple based upon the number of connections supporting and displaying CarPlay. Even though you wouldn't be able to (and probably don't intend to) use multiple phones at once, it would result in added fees to Apple.

OP -- I assume you've been experimenting with different phones, different iOS installations, and different lightning cables on the front USB port? There are reports of the screen going black with certain phones (not sure why) and the cables have to meet certain specifications to support CarPlay.

Yeah I’ve tried multiple phones with both 12 & 13 iOS and 3 different cables as well using each phone. I took the car in to the dealer yesterday (still waiting to hear back from them) but when I plugged my phone, using the cable I always use in my car, into the loaner CarPlay came up right away. Tested it with my wife’s phone, which wasn’t even registering in my car, and hers was an instant-connect too so I know TI can’t be the phone. It is definitely something on the car
