  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm considering purchasing a used genesis 2015 awd 3.8 sedan w 83K mi. Cardax looks good, dealer is repairing sunroof before sale. I love the car it drove well but what should I be be aware of concerning maintenance/ reliability? Can this vehicle last 200k mi+? I see many owners (most 5.0) looking to sell before it becomes too expensive, is that the same with the 3.8? Thanks in advance

Yes, it can easily last to 200k. Many owners sell before the car becomes too expensive. This is true of every brand. Fact is, you are buying a mechanical device that is 7 years old and things wear out and break. it could be a Genesis, Lexus, or a washing machine. There is some risk with anything. The only difference between the examples I gave is the cost of parts for a really nice car is higher than a timer on the washer.

With time and miles comes part the new one never needs. Exhaust, ball joints, belts, alternators, etc. I've owned plenty of high mile cars so be prepared in case it does happen.
Good luck if you go ahead. Overall, a really good car.
