  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I own a 2021 GV80 with Uyuni White paint. Last Spring, a small spot on the hood began to peel, followed several weeks later by a spot on the driver side front fender. The spots continue to peel and are now about 1-2" wide and an irregular shape. In August I brought the car to a local dealership in CT where the dealership got Genesis to approve a repainting of the hood and fender, as a "goodwill" gesture, rather than as a warranty claim (car is under 40K miles and under 60 mos old). Because of a backup at the dealership, I deferred the paint work until I returned to FL. The local FL dealer would not accept the decision provided by Genesis to the CT dealer, and today submitted another request to approve the repaint in FL. I am awaiting that decision. However, the Service Manager in FL said that although it is uncommon, the White paint on Hyundai's and Genesis is a problem that seldom occurs, probably one instance per hundred vehicles. He speculates it is due to the application of the clearcoat finish at the factory, as it was not allowed to dry sufficiently when the car was manufactured.

Is anyone else having this issue, and if so, what was the resolution?

Others have had problems. Do a search here too.
