  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well the valet experience at Keyes Van Nuys on my G90 Ultimate was all I expected. Car was picked up on time and returned washed and cleaned a little bit earlier and they had predicted. They dropped off a dedicated Premium G80 courtesy car for me to use for the day. Driving the Premium made me glad I chose the Ultimate. I missed the soft closing doors (have to get used to slamming them) , the side power shades, the head up display and even to just grab the door handle to unlock instead of having to press the door button (ya that's tough). Plus I happen to love all the technology that comes with the Ultimate and was missing. I use it all every time I take my car out.

1st world problems! #SoSad

When you find a post in this forum that doesn't represent a first world problem please let us all know. I tried to simply follow the purpose of this section and hopefully help some folks with their Genesis.

Mcc thanks for your post - it's exactly the type of owner-to-owner intel that is helpful.

CSULA21, you probably meant that as a harmless quip, but consider:

South Korea's per capita GDP in the last 50 years has gone from $108/yr (Third World) to almost $40,000/yr (First World) by producing things people want to buy.

I suppose if you see shame in people having 1st world problems, you'd prefer North Korea's path?

There is nothing wrong with 1st world problems, or having nice things, but sometimes one can get a little carried away.

No offense to Mcc, but when people who own the G90 Ultimate try and shame those who only own a G90 Premium as some sort of low life peasants who have to close their cars doors manually, then maybe the line has been crossed. It's just a car, and hopefully there are more important things in life than automatic closing car doors.

Mark_888 I am sorry you took umbrage with my post. It was one of my earlier posts and perhaps my comparison of the Premium to the Ultimate should have gone into a different section. I was pretty enthusiastic. Folks do make these sorts of comparisons all the time. It was never my intention to shame you or anyone.

Since I don't even have a G90 (I still drive a 2009 Genesis with 61K miles), I was not personally offended.

I was just suggesting that even though it's OK to have a nice car, maybe some of these things really don't really matter much, and maybe it's too easy to go overboard about these things.

There has to be more to life than having self-closing car doors.

Yes I am sure there is more to life than self closing doors (second time you’ve said that), but is there more to life than
G80 sport power loss or
Equus Badge vs.Genesis Badge or
G80 valve covers. Did I get the correct ones? Or
First Generation FS: V6 3.8 MSA Cat Deletes or
Oil catch cans or
The hundreds of other posts that have countless enthusiastic replies?

I am going to let this drop because it seems pointless. I only responded because you reiterated your “there must be more to life ...” Maybe we should stop posting things that everybody can’t have or do or even understand lest others might feel shamed.

The real question is whether you have any Grey Poupon in the car.

MCC, just saw this post. To the best of my knowledge the G80 doesn't get soft-closing doors or power sunshades (at least my Genesis Ultimate doesn't have them), those are G90 items, so I don't believe that even the G80 Ultimate would have made a difference there.

But the G80 does come with a rattling panoramic sunroof - free of charge, courtesy of poor design and/or manufacturing quality...

You shouldn’t feel the need to apologize as there was nothing wrong with your original post. Any rational person could see that you were just saying that your experience with the lower trim model made you appreciate the extra options that you PAID more money for in your Ultimate.

You said nothing derogatory about the lower trim model or made any judgements about those who buy them. Mark888’s response was way off-base as you said nothing remotey like what he suggested. Best to just ignore the “agitators” when they go so far off relevance to the topic.
