  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Very Sad to see her go.

Well after over 7 years and over 212,000 miles we made the difficult decision to replace our 2011 Genesis. The rear differential had developed to much play/lash in the past months and needed replacement and for a new one all in would cost about 2000.00. (used one about 1000.00 incl. labor) The Genesis has been wonderful and the engine and transmission is still as sweet as it was when new. The replacement is a new 2017 Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum in shoreline blue with all the options including pano roof, heated steering wheel LDS, radar cruise etc. We would have purchased another Genesis but my wife and I agreed that we needed a vehicle that was more versatile than a sedan. I already miss the 4.6 V8 Genesis but the Highlander is smooth riding and quiet. I think I will stop in here once in while to see what discussions are going on and maybe comment. This forum is one of the best.

SNIFF SNIFF...RIP....

If you get an itch you see the 2018 G80 Turbo looks nice....BUT the price tag does not....($55k)

Thank you for the kind words about the forum and congratulations on your new Toyota Highlander. Limited Platinum, huh? Sounds very nice. It actually rides smoother than your Genesis? I'm kinda surprised... Genesis Motors really does need something in the CUV/SUV segment. Soon. Just not soon enough... Show us your Highlander! :)

That's one of the vehicles I have been closely looking at. I particularly like the D-4S injection engine, which combines GDI with port injection to cut down on carbon deposits on the backsides of the intake valves and on tailpipes (and other benefits).

Here is an article about it from Car and Driver:

Explained: Why Some Engines Have Both Port and Direct Injection
https://blog.caranddriver.com/explained-why-some-engines-have-both-port-and-direct-injection/

But I only drive about 2,000 miles per year these days and my Genesis only has 61K miles, so hard to get motivated about buying a new vehicle. But if I did, it would likely be an SUV or CUV. The Honda Pilot or Acura MDX (very similar vehicles) is another one I am looking at.

Let us know how you like the Highlander once you get a chance to drive it for awhile.

Too bad. Yet another reason why Hyundai/Genesis should have brought out the SUVs before the G70.

They were going to do that, but YEH overruled them.

Now that I am retired, I only drive it abut 3 times a week, and not long distances. It would be a great used car. It is in excellent condition, and only rarely has anyone sat in the rear seats.

I do the oil changes myself, using Mobil 1 EP 5W-30 synthetic oil, usually 5K miles or 1 year, which ever comes first. I check and refresh all the other fluids on a regular basis with OEM parts (like radiator fluid, etc).
