  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Im swapping the 09 grille for a 12. At first I thought of having it painted to match the satin white. But decided to try something unique. I wrapped with a carbon simulated vinyl gray film. I think it came out great. But honestly, I dont know how long it will last. Thoughts?

Holy crap, I hadn't thought of that... it looks freaking awesome!

I was thinking of plastidipping the grill parts a dark gray to match the 19" wheels... but this looks better!

I've also considered the simulated carbon fiber look inside (replace all black panels on center console, doors, shifter, and cover the top of the steering wheel and plastic pieces around the buttons on the steering wheel), but I may wait a while. I am liking the understated look I have.

Nice job with the grill. Got any "ON THE CAR" pics of the new grill?

Thanks! No pics yet, im waiting for my side marker led lights to come in before i swap the grille. It looks like i will have to take off the bumper. Could be wrong though.

Im also doing the silver mouldings in the center console in di-noc film. I also found a dark wood di-noc from 3M for the steering wheel. Pics to follow.

Should be easier for you to trick out the steering wheel since you already have a "wood" base to cover. My model is all leather... not sure how that would look, or whether I even could. I think I should be able to.

Keep us posted :)

I agree, that looks GREAT. Were those pre-cut pieces supplied to you, or did you trim-fit all that yourself? If not pre-cut, I'm curious about the techniques you used to make such a clean trim fit. The workmanship looks factory; well done!

Ruissimo, actually, im not wrapping that part of the wheel. Im doing the smooth inserts on the sides of the wheel. The controls pieces. The film im gettting is pretty close to the dark wood.

Mark, thanks! I had to do the cutting and fittment. Nothing more than a hair dryer, xacto knives, small butter knife, and a lot of patience to get it done. My only concern is how well it will hold. After all, its cut vinyl. Might not go well at the car wash. Ill test it out.

Gotcha. I was thinking of doing those pieces as well (as I mentioned above). Good luck!

very tastefully done and professional looking. Take pic on car when it's done please.

Add me to the crowd: Very Nice! and yes the question is of durability.

Let me answer all of your questions to durability:

That is cut vinyl on the ROAD facing side of my side view mirror. I ran it through multiple car washes and hit tons of bugs. Stayed on like a charm. If applied well (and your's looks FANTASTIC) then it will stay on for years :)

I love your grille and am not thinking of wrapping mine lol

Just got some more film for what I had in mind for the interior silver trim. My interior looks gutted! Should I panic? lol

Really nice, and a good job as well it seems.

Ok, its 0145hrs and Im done putting the dash back together. Here the pics

I guess with the server swap i lost the pics. Here they are... Again.

Im going to redo the monitor trim center piece in the dark wood film Im waiting on. I tried to do it with the carbon film, but dont really like it. The wood film will give better contrast.

Its OK... stands out a bit, does'nt coordinate with anything else. Maybe a darker color would have been better than the silver.
