  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone, I posted a reply in the other main dashcam thread with my experience putting in a dashcam, but wanted to share my experience separately to provide others a different option for a new dashcam. I recently installed a VIOFO A139 Pro in my 2020 G70 3.3T Sport. I have greatly enjoyed it so far and it seems to be an excellent value if you want one of the best cameras on the market. I chose this camera for a few reasons:
  • Front camera 4k sensor with the new Sony Starvis 2 sensor - excellent image quality
  • Front and rear cameras (rear camera is 1080p, both front and back are 30fps)
  • Advanced parking mode with buffered recording (records 15s before and 30s after motion is detected)
    • This was my number 1 "make or break" feature I needed to have, wanted peace of mind from hit and runs
  • Did not want a camera with a screen.
  • Wanted to install this with everything I needed for about $350.
I have been very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this camera if you're in the market. To install, I followed guides from BlackBoxMyCar on YouTube, and fellow user Ruissimo's guide here on the forums. The front camera is located just to the right of the rear view mirror, have no issues seeing all of the front of the car with it in this location. I tapped the same fuses he did to hardwire my camera, choosing the trunk for battery power and the armrest charger for accessory power to enable parking mode. I also used the same ground he did to install. I would recommend picking up a tester light at your hardware store, it was a huge help to troubleshoot my install. I had an issue with the fuse taps I was using and was able to pinpoint those as the issue with the tester. I'm not sure if it matters, but I have the power liftgate trunk, you may or may not be able to use that fuse if you don't have the power liftgate, I'm not sure.

Below is some sample footage on my way to work from the front and rear cameras. I have the camera in HDR mode with the polarizing lens installed (I might need to rotate it slightly to completely eliminate the reflections you see in the windshield.) If you want to see the full quality, set the quality to 4k on the front and 1080p on the rear in the YouTube players below. Feel free to drop any questions and happy to help if I can.

Been thinking about doing this. Great info. Thanks.
