  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Objective was to see, maybe drive the 2011 Sonata, but he had none in stock. Just a row of 2010 Sonatas.

He did have a black/black 2010 Genesis Premium/Tech Package model on the floor. Examining it, other than the plastic on the top of the dash that I think they applied a shiny Armorall type finish to, the car had a very expensive, well designed, well engineered look and feel.

The car stickered $43 something, it was labeled with a price that was about $3300 off. Definitely worth that...

I will tell my wife about your findings-- I was worried I had bought the wrong car there for a moment. Thank you for your hard work--

That's about the same sticker price and discount I got. If you buy it, see if you can get the 10 year, 100k mile bumper-to-bumper, zero deductable extended warranty for $1750.

What? There's a 10 year 100K warranty on this car?? Well worth the $1750, although I do understand that some have gotten a better price...

quote from http://www.officialhyundaiwarranty.com is 1752 for 10/100/0.

Though I'm still kinda on a fence about the extended warranty - i don't think i'll keep the car beyond it's basic factory warranty of 5/60

The key might be the electronics, which can be very expensive to fix/replace and seem to be one of the higher repair items. The standard warranty is only 36K for them. If the extended warranty covers them, especially if you have the more expensive and troublesome tech package, it might be worth it.

Prior to my Genesis, I drove an Infiniti QX4 SUV with factory navigation system for 10 years. About four years ago my navigation system developed a problem where it would occasionally fail to read the CD (yes, it was prior to DVD). I asked the Infiniti dealer about getting it repaired, and they said they did not repair the navigation units, all they could do would be to replace it with a new one for $5000. After an extensive Internet search, I couldn't find anyone else who could repair the Infiniti nav unit, so I lived with the problem.

When I learned I could get a 10 yr, 100k Mi, zero deductable warranty for my Genesis for $1750, I junped on it.

Did you verify that it includes audio/video electronics? The 5-year 60K mile "bumper-to-bumper" warranty included with a Hyundai does not include audio/video electronics.

What kind of "bumper to bumper" warranty crap is that? I have never heard of a b to b warranty not covering everything except wear items like brakes, tires, etc. What else is not covered besides all of the electronics?

I never buy an extended warranty. (I resist the "pressure" the F&I guy puts on me as they make a ton of money selling the extended warranty). (I hate F&I guys).

However, that being said, if I ever did get crazy and buy an extended warranty, it would be the Manufacturers Extended Warranty, (with the manufacturers name on it), not one from an Extended Warranty Company, and there are a lot of these.

It does cover the powertrain electronics, just no the accessory electronics, like the GPS and radio.

Lots of warranties are shorter for appearance items and accessories. This is often true of extended or certified used warranties as well.

For example BMW excludes "Accessories: Radio/cassette player, telephone, navigation system, CD changer, or any components of those systems; non-original equipment parts, components or accessories." from their extended warranty.

They moved that one onto the shopwroom floor after I bought the black/cashmere interior one that had been sitting there. The black/black is actually the one I test drove.
