  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all.

I'm in Montreal Canada (having recently acquired a 2010 4.6 sedan) and the local dealers look like deer caught in the headlights when I give them this TSB# (which I believe would address my problem).

When I hit the voice command button on the steering wheel, it will sometimes respond OK and actually execute the command. But, if I'm telling it to select a track on a disc that's playing, it will do so, but the audio will be dead. The graph bar display for the volume will be moving and will respond if I increase the volume, but no sound is heard. The rotary knob for the DIS does nothing, the power on/off for the system does nothing and the eject / load button for the discs does nothing. This is what I've experienced and there are probably plenty of other symptoms if I were to keep fooling with it. So now, I don't dare touch it. Usually (but not always) shutting off the engine and re-starting will return things to normal.

I tried bumping an old thread ("TSB 12-BE-012 killed my NAV") because a guy by the name of Jeff ("jaboyd"): said he handed his dealer a printout of the TSB after they couldn't find anything. However, I'm told however that he hasn't been active on the site for a long time ...

I'm really hoping someone might be able to post this TSB so I could rub my dealers nose in it. I've searched everywhere on the 'net and can't find this document ...

Thanks so much for any help!

Also FYI, those from this thread TSB 12-BE-012 killed my NAV

The symptom of No Navibox SW and No Navibox Database (pictured below) is the result of either a short (less common) or the lack of map updates installed.

****Maps have to be installed after the update. Otherwise, you will get the dreaded navigation is starting forever.

Good morning.

I am bumping this thread. I am having issues with my radio and voice commands as well.

It seems like every third time I get in the car, the voice command button won't work nor will any of the functions for the Navigation as well as the sound system.

It is incredibly frustrating never knowing when I will lose functionality.

Does anyone know if this is a sign that the head unit is failing? My car is no longer under warranty so I am trying to decide if I want to drop the coin to get it fixed.

I currently drive a 2009 4.6 v8. I live in Tallahassee, Florida and the local dealership leaves a lot to be desired--they are so bad that I actually bought the car at an Infiniti dealership and do all of my services there.

It has been a great car but the last 6 months are starting to really tick me off.

Thank you to any and all that have suggestions, comments, or recommendations.

I finally opened up the engineering info.

I attached a picture. Is this the right info that you need?

Thanks!

That is the original firmware (which is pretty old), I take it you do not have XM subscription?

As I recall, in the early days the problem of freezing was directly related to not having an active XM service, the only choice I had to avoid the freezing issue, was to keep the XM service until mid 2010 when they did the TSB that addressed this issue among other NAVI related things...

BTW: you can generally get XM service for around $25 for 5 months...

Alex in this thread will send you disks and a hard drive to update the head unit, amp version, bluetooth firmware and 2014 maps for $250.00. I have no issues whatsoever now.
