  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anybody had a warranty claim denied on the smart cruise control and/or parking sensors because of scratches to the bumper?

The dealer told me that because there's damage to the bumper--all I can see are scratches, but the service advisor insisted it was flexed and bent out of shape--and the flex in the bumper caused the sensor to flex and break, and therefore they're not covered under warranty.

I asked if there was damage to the sensor, and he said no at first, but when I pressed him and he said there was physical, visible damage. But he couldn't/wouldn't show me.

I understand that if there were actually a substantial impact that it wouldn't be covered under the warranty. But ought the bumper protect the $4500 component placed in it from little bumps and scratches?

Will I have any luck with another dealer or HMA, or should I just accept that I won't have cruise control?

If your bumper was damaged, your auto insurance should cover it.

I'd try another dealer!

I would wax that area of the bumper to help remove/hide any scratches. Then go to another dealer if the problem persists.
