  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If I buy a used Hyundai what warranties transfer?

I've heard the powertrain does not, is that true?

If I remember correctly the 10 year does not. It defaults to a standard warranty with whatever time is remaing. Other can correct me if I'm wrong or you can Google it. Google is a searchers friend.

What if you transfer to an immediate family member the title ?

I bought my Genesis before I was married. If I transfered my title to the Genesis to my wife, there would be no powertrain warranty left on the vehicle since my name is in Hyundai's database as the original owner.

If you transfer title to someone else, without consideration (money or something else of value) equal to the fair market value, it is a gift and you may be liable for paying a Federal Gift Tax. The following exclusions apply:

  • Gifts that are less than the annual exclusion for the calendar year ($13.000).
  • Tuition or medical expenses you pay for someone (the educational and medical exclusions).
  • Gifts to your spouse.
  • Gifts to a political organization for its use.
