If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Can anyone comment on the water repellant glass they are using on the front and front-side windows? Does this actually work like a permanent aquapel? This feature is not listed on the Canadian version. :(

I only see "Acoustic-laminated windshield and side windows; front door water-repellant glass" at website link below. No mention of water-repellant windshield.

I use Rain-X on all my windows, and since the side windows and rear window don't have a windshield wiper scrapping across them, it lasts a long time. Due to wiper blades, the windshield requires more frequent application of Rain-X. I also use Rain-X on the wiper blades, which makes a big difference if there is also Rain-X on the windshield.

Ditch the RainX, what a joke that stuff is compared to aquapel. No $hit, get the aquapel, you will never go back. We have quite a few cars in the household so I normally buy it by the dozen or more. Really great prices on ebay by the way. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trk...0.H0.Xaquapel&_nkw=aquapel&_sacat=0&_from=R40

I realize that Aquapel lasts longer, but that is only an issue on the windshield. Since there is no wiper on the other windows, Rain-X lasts quite a long time. Also, by applying to Rain-X (which has silicone) on the wiper blades, it works quite well together with Rain-X on the glass. Maybe if I drove a lot more than I do, or drove in climates with a lot of snow/rain, I would worry about it, but Rain-X is fine for me.

Aquapel is great and last a really long time on the windshield, much longer than RainX. RainX is cheaper and is just as good for the shorter time period. You just have to clean and re-apply more often.

Honestly, I don't think either product is good on side windows. It just doesn't work the same way on glass that is not getting a lot of direct airflow, which pushes away the beads. I did all of my windows once and I did not like the effect on the rear and sides. I now just do the front windshield.

I just clay and polish my windows along with the car. Every 6 months. I have never needed to buy a water repelent as the clay and polish works better.

I just apply Rain X to the front and back windshields. I also stopped doing the sides.

Although, I've never tried Rain-X on the blades themselves... Just wipe on and wipe off? Does it decrease blade chatter?

Vingar on ur blades will get rid of blade chatter

Yes just wipe on and wipe off eveytime you wash your car.

You should be a saleman cuz you are pithing that stuff hard.

Once you tried both you will see what I mean. Aquapel only needs renewal spring and fall. ;)

Well i do appreciate your opinion but im going to stick to my method. :p

Thanks! Any particular application method?

Just wipe on and wipe off?
You also have to grind the pegs off with a Dremel tool.

I only use Rain-X about that often. Works good enough for me. I think if I lived in an area that snows, the Rain-X would not last very long.

Oh no... Here we go again :)

I went through an exhaustive investigation of the two a couple of years ago, and I think I saw that video. Bottom line is that:
  • I don't drive a lot
  • It doesn't rain that much were I live, and only rarely snows
  • I only reapply Rain-X about once a year and seems to work fine for me
  • If Rain-X is applied to the wiper blades also, it lasts longer on the windshield
  • Rain-X does not wear off quickly on side and rear windows with no wipers
  • I don't really care that much

LOL on the last point. Agree.
