If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone had any weird computer problems? Sometimes if I push things in the right combination my AFLS light continuously flashes, and the manual says to bring the car in to the dealer, but then when I turn the car off and then back on, it stops flashing. I also sometimes have issues with the easy in/out function not moving my seat all the way in to it's preset location.

Once, and only once, in 12,500 miles of ownership, my seat, like yours, did not work correctly. Started car, and steering wheel came down correctly, but seat did not move forward. Shutting car off, then back on did not help. OK, I then pushed the #1 button for my memory seat, but seat would not move. OK, I then pushed the manual button forward forward, and yes, seat went forward, however because I pushed it too far forward, when I tried to make the seat go slightly back, it would not move back. Shut ignition off, then back on again, steering wheel worked correct, and seat back (tilt) worked correct, but seat itself stayed in a forward position. (Oh great, now I'm going to have to drive with [my knees in my chest]). About 15 minutes later, I had to get some groceries, shut engine off, and the seat then worked fine, just as it was designed to do.

So far to date, (knock on wood) this has not happened again. Had other strange things happen though. I'm starting to think that there is a ghost (I'll call him George) stuck somewhere in the car, and every so often, he causes something to happen, just to keep me on my toes.

Interesting. Did you ever take it in to the dealer to have these strange problems diagnosed?

This afternoon, I pulled into the garage and shut the car down. The steering wheel went up as usual, then the seat went clear to the rear while the seat back moved forward, almost pinning me to the steering wheel. I had just previously parked the car in the sun for a few minutes while I removed the "H" from the trunk lid.

I shut it down and restarted and everything worked just fine. I used the car twice afterward with no problems.

Had my Genesis for 10 days - appears the electrical system is haunted!

1) On the afternoon of Saturday August 1st exited car normally with seat and steering wheel assist acting normally, returned to car about an hour and a half later and found the seat base all the way forward and the seat back at an alarming angle forward almost touching the steering wheel. Attempts to reposition the seat using seat base adjusters were unsuccessful – no response. Attempted to use seat memory selector, this also did not work. I am 100+ miles from home with no way to drive the car – not very happy with a car I had for 6 days. Squeezed my arms into the floor area to depress the brake with one hand and push the start button with the other – car started and seat went back to memorized position.
2) Same evening as above drove the car a few miles to another location, parked and returned four hours later (now dark) – seat position is OK. Started car, lights in ‘auto” mode, AFLS warning started flashing and continued to do so – looked in manual and noted if light flashing indicates issue in system, see dealer. Shutdown car for 1+ minutes; on restart no flashing AFLS warning. Drove car a few miles to gas station, car shutoff for about 5 minutes on restart AFLS flashing again. Drove car about 15 miles found a place to get off highway and again shutdown car for 1+ minutes on restart no flashing warning light – drove 75 freeway miles more with no further issues. Only one night start has been done with since above issue – no flashing warning this time.
3) Beginning Monday August 3rd during my normal commute to work (50 minute drive) at 7:30 to 8:30 AM on sunny morning I note that auto headlight are cycling on and off with no specific pattern also noted same behavior on commute home – this has continued during all day time driving this week.
4) On the evening of Tuesday August 4th noted that audio occasionally went off. By my commute Wednesday morning all sources of audio were intermittent, by evening commute audio was more off than on. Noted that if audio was on and I initiated a voice command the system would hear and respond but usually telling me the channel or function was unavailable. If I initiated a voice command when audio had gone off I would get this message on the display: "SDS is being prepared in the background. Please try at later time."

Going back to dealer tomorrow!
Update - All, by the number here are the results of 2 days at the dealer as stated on the work order (dealer is working with Hyundai USA shown as engineering)

1) Unable to duplicate concern - waiting for call back from engineering
2) Unable to duplicate concern but receive code B2326 - waiting for call back from engineering
3) Possibly related to line 2 but unable to duplicate.
4) Verified concern and screen message ordered an audio amplifier and will call customer when parts arrive.

I love my Gennie despite the strange issues and believe the dealer will continue to work with Hyundai to resolve the issues they were unable to duplicate. I did note a bit of concern regarding item 1, the seat, as it could be a safety issue should someone be in the seat at the time. I believe I saw someone else post this issue in another part of the forum.

Update - a week later and dealer called to say audio amplifier in. AFLS lamp now flashes on about every third start day or night and will only go off when car restarted. Voice command no longer works just gives SDS message noted above when attempted. Bluetooth no longer works. I'm now using a portable radio on the seat to keep myself entertained during my two hours of daily commute and have gone back to bluetooth headset. I'm very frustrated with the deteriorating electrical system; it certainly detracts from the joy I would like to have driving my new car.

Sorry to hear about your problems. My impression is Hyundai (NA) will keep a close eye on this and work with the dealer closely to resolve. Unfortunatly it is a process. I would ask them to give a loaner (V8 of course)and work on it until it's fixed. Keeps the miles off your car :)

My issues:

Intermittent sound, even on the new replacement amp that I was provided. They said a new one is on the way with an ETA of next week (been nearly a month already)

AFLS sometimes flashes when starting the car. I would say a once a week occurrence as a DD, restarting the car fixes the problem.

Voice command also works intermittently, with sometimes hearing "please wait..........." to nothing at all after clicking the button. I have fixed the problem by restarting the car (with opening the door to discharge the battery some after its turned off) I also get the SDS being prepared prompt on the monitor.

Same thing with bluetooth. Echo is reported by the end users I am talking to. Sometimes doesn't even work - have to reset the car to get it back working.

Another issue is when the car sometimes starts I get parking assist beeping erratically, with the straight center front sensor flashing all three bars (i checked - it's quite clean up there)

Another issue, which I have noticed on long commutes, is the entire electrical system turns off and on, resetting itself. It resets the navigation to what you previously had it and shifts to anything you were previously listening to (ei - track 1 of the current dvd)

It's dissapointing that these issues arise, especially after Hyundai put so much effort in making the Genesis look and run good. We'll see how they handle these issues.

Don't you just love it when the dealer says "I'm sorry, but we have not been able to duplicate the problem!"

Although I don't have the same issues as you, one of the two issues (the lesser one) has been seen (duplicated) by the Service Writer, however the Genesis Tech was on vacation that day. Now that I know I can duplicate that lesser problem by parking the car with the problem door facing the sun, I am going to visit them on friday, park the car in the sun with door facing the sun, then after grabbing a coffee, and letting it sit for 10 minutes or so, will try the door button. When it does not work, I will get the Service Writer and the Genesis Technician and then let them tell me that they can't duplicate the problem.

As for my greater problem, next time it happens, I will drive directly to dealer without shutting off ignition, and again have both the Service Writer and the Genesis Technician tell me that they can't duplicate the problem.

I have heard of some similar problems on the new Mercedes Benz. I have had a few different glitches but not as bad as described above. I can't help but notice the similarities to my office computer. Every once in awhile it does something strange. I wonder if the new cars have gotten so sophisticated that they have not had all the soft ware bugs found and removed yet. I'm not a computer guy but its a thought!

Thanks for the kind words - thought I'd give all an update - took car in this morning unfortunately got an 4 year old Ford Focus as a loaner a bit different than I'm used to driving but it gets me home where I can get one of my other cars. Informed dealer that I did not want the car back until at least some of the audio issues were fixed. Got a call from the dealer service in a couple of hours saying the wrong part was sent and they will re-order; I'm not sure if this means another weeks wait. I got to thinking about this and realized I drove the car off the dealers lot 17 days ago and for the first five days of ownership experienced only minor glitches then on day 6 the electronics just started to fail. So far out of my 17 days with the car it has spent 4 days with the dealers and no progress has been made on any of the issues. I'd like to think Hyundai (NA) is keeping an eye on this but I see no evidence of that at this point. Sorry to be so negative but I've had the pleasure of purchasing many fine new cars in my 63 years and none have been anywhere near as frustrating as this experience. I guess I just got the proverbial "lemon".

If you have not already call HNA and pressure them.

Couldn't you exercise the "lemon law" (three times to dealer for same issue)?

I am a computer guy ... I've been programming since 1956 and developed several electro-mechanical boxes for IBM. I'll guarantee that there are some timing bugs in the code.

Three times now,I have shut the engine down and simultaneously opened the driver's door at just the wrong instant and had the seat go wild. The bottom moves back while the back swings forward, pinning me to the wheel. I found that I can stop it by hitting the start button again or prevent it by not doing the actions simultaneously. The only thing that explains that is a timing glitch in the code.

I wish I could see at least a flow chart of the code that runs this car. For years, I was the prime "debugger" in my IBM department and my last years as a consultant were spent in trying to break code developed by others.

I just had 4th brake light diode replaced(now 65,000 miles),
driver entry door button replaced, and informed that left interior
light module needs replacement at $400. There's something in
this electrical system that requires factory study. It's never
a fuse or light bulb, but $300 and $400 parts. 2009 Genesis.

This morning I was using the voice dialer and I heard pop. The entire info system rebooted. Worked fine after the reboot. Strange....

System reboot after a "pop" has happened to me twice.

Agree. I have a 2011 3.8 And find the nav system pretty unfriendly. As far as the HVAC. it has a mind
of its own. never surprises me when it does something unexpected. While not a computer guy per say I was a PLc programmer and understand that their software needs some improvements. Without a good understanding of the program or a flowchart or the actual programmer onsite it is difficult to find the real problem.
