  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I haven't had anyone in my back seat yet, but I happened to be driving today with my arm draped over the back and felt hot air coming out of the vent facing the rear seat passengers. The outside temperature was 72 and the interior temp was set to 71. I tried fiddling the temperature dial for back seat passengers but it didn't seem to make any difference. Anyone else seen something like this?

Edit: I lowered the temperature even more in the front and it seemed to cool it down a bit, but the air coming out of the center vent is noticeably warmer than the side vents in the back. I wonder if this is transmission heat..

Turn the dial on the center backseat vents from the red dot to the blue dot.

Speaking of heat. I removed the ashtray and use that space to keep my keys to the two mailboxes I check. As the weather warms, the keys have become so hot that they are uncomfortable to handle.

I didn't notice the heat last summer, but I still had the guts of the ashtray in place. That made it rather tight for the keys, so I removed the ashtray entirely a couple of months ago.

I believe there is a thread here on this forum from some people complaining that the back seat temperature wasn't working correctly. I think this is a known issue to some degree.

1. With mine, the Left Side wheel in the rear center would go toward hot all by itself. Because I did not want them taking things apart, I inserted a piece of matchbook cardboard (thin cardboard) between the wheel and the edge, to keep it from going toward hot by itself.

2. Some units just are not working correct, (even doing number 1 above) and if memory serves me, there is a TSB to fix it. I think the technician has to replace some kind of a sensor under the center of the car. When I find time, I will look to see if I can find the TSB.

That would be great. Our car seems to be experiencing the same problem.

Aquineas,

The TSB for fixing that problem is 09-HA-003. Take it to your dealer and have them fix it.

In my case, it is only that the left side wheel/knob works its way toward hot by itself and I had to "jam" a small piece of cardboard in it to keep it pointing toward cold (as I don't want the dealer working on it for such a small problem) but in your case, if the wheel stays in the cold position, but still pumps out HOT air, TSB 09-HA-003 will fix that.
