  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So i just installed a new Jun BL catback exhaust and everything sounded great. Not but a half mile later i was driving and noticed i had little boost and my air intakes sounded drastically different. The passenger side barely made any noise and my driver side was very high and whined. So naturally i pulled over to investigate and noticed that my vaccum line on my catch can blew off. I fixed the problem however the issue with the air intake still is there. I dont know what to do. I've check all the lines going to the intakes, the blow offs, the vaccum line, and i even reset my ECU. I'm out of ideas. No engine light or fault codes at all... just the weird whine when the engine breathes.

If it sounds like a dentist drill, it could be the start of a bad turbo. Usually improperly balanced shaft or possibly foreign object damage on the compressor wheel.

You can pop the inlet hose off the front of the turbo and stick your camera down there to take a picture of the compressor. See if there is any damage.

I checked mine the other day.

If you don't see any damage on the compressor, stick her fingers in there and see if there is any shaft play.

@Cashby is that a hole or just a paint mark on your fin?

I don't know if the 3.3 has anything in common with my 2t but... I installed the K&N Typhoon system which really improved the low end and overall response BUT. It sounds like someone pored ground glass into the turbo bearings , just awful. That and the BOV is much louder and makes a whop sound, flutters and is also miserable . Whats the answer?
