  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

....my 2009 Genesis 4.6 V8 that I purchased back in late 2008 and kept for 16 years has died at 135,246 miles.......engine or transmission sounds like something horrible broke off inside while the engine is running and it's going to blow up......I stripped the car and will donate it......I got my $$$ worth and will NOT buy another Hyundia or Genesis.......

Okay. But why not? Your post says you got a ton of miles out of the car before it finally died after 16 years. That sounds pretty good to me. Just curious as to your reasoning which seems inconsistent with the rest of your post.

Is 16 years too long? Sure, other cars will die or rust away before that but you can trade it in sooner if you want. I only had one car that long and only because it became my wife's car and was rarely used.

It was like 16 agonizing years or more like 13-14 years , the first yr or two was great but down hill from there......but like I said I did get my $$$ worth out of this vehicle.....maybe I held onto it too long

Financially, it may have been best. If you did not like it or had problems, no. Get rid of it for your well being.
In my younger days, I drove many beater cars and the associated fun that goes with them. Now, once the 5/60 warranty is gone, the car is gone.

Duh! At some point (fourth year, fifth year?) I would have gotten rid of it if it was causing me such agony.

But I do agree with you: you don't want another car that will last 16 years and 135,000 agonizing miles. There are many cars that seem fine for the first 3 or 4 years and then start showing problems (when the warranty runs out on most cars). Look for one of those and you won't have to live with 14 years of pain.

BMW or Jaguar maybe?

I have had good experiences with BMWs but my suggestion would be a vehicle that I would never purchase (the OP and I have very different goals and desires for a vehicle): a Lexus. It does not use cutting edge technology and is rock solid.
