  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

It should read "Hyundai Genesis Rolls to Top Car Award inspite of these lowly rated despised tires!"

"Dunlop Tires Help Hyundai Genesis Roll to Top Car Award

AKRON, Ohio, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Dunlop Tires proudly claims original equipment fitments on some of the premier automobiles in the world, and that credibility was enhanced with this week's selection of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis as the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Car of the Year.

Dunlop supplies the SP Sport 5000 tire for the exciting new luxury car, offering two sizes -- the P225/55R17 and the P235/50R18.

The NAIAS Car and Truck of the Year awards are selected annually by 50 North American automotive journalists. The honors are announced during Press Days for the NAIAS in Detroit.

"The Dunlop SP Sport 5000 is a terrific tire, and a perfect choice for this award-winning car. It represents the fact that Dunlop is the right brand for luxury and performance car owners - and those who aspire to be owners of those top vehicles," said Todd Hershberger, Dunlop brand director."

I guess I'm in the minority here. Granted, I only drove the car for a week or so before winter hit with a vengeance, but even now, in the midst of snow/ice/slush/cold I'm finding nothing objectionable about the Dunlops. Many have cited poor ratings from a tire site I hadn't heard of as a basis for complaint, and others have switched to winter tires as a matter of course. Maybe I'll complain too, but it won't be until I've tested the all-seasons in all seasons.
My 2 cents...

Other than the fact that they seem to transmit a good bit of road noise on uneven surfaces, I really don't have any gripes about the Dunlops on my V6. Of course, I live in Atlanta metro so snow and/or ice are not a concern for me.

I like the Dunlops.
No complaints in wet, dry, or surface performance.

uuummm...me too. No issues whatsoever from the dunlop's. Believe it or not, I have even got a few compliments on the tread pattern...

To each his own. I just need to quit spinning mine so they will last longer. The service advisor told me $290 each. HA!

I know I can find them cheaper :)

If I recall correctly, the Dunlop 5000 are the highest rated tires EVER by consumer reports...

I hate every Dunlop I've ever ran & would rather have Kumho Ectas if given the choice. But, I run ZR Michilin Pilot Sports, so maybe I'm spoiled.:(

I have Michilin Pilot Sports AS in one car, Dunlop 5000 in the Genesis. After 3 weeks of snow fall. The Michilin wins hands down.

A good part of that road noise can probably be attributed to the very stiff springs.

I have Pilot Sport AS on my 05 Subaru Outback XT (not a Genesis owner yet) :) and they are the best tire BY FAR I have ever owned. You get what you pay for!

I read somewhere in the owners manual that the tires on the Genesis are Summer Tires.
Well I thought the tread looks more like an all weather tire, so I went into the www.tirerack.com website and saw that they have it listed as an all weather tire.

I think they are aqbout $160 at Tire Rack.

I have not been a fan of Dunlops but so far no complaints about these. In my experience most of the tires that come on cars from the factory are not the best. I usually end up changing them out, but we'll see how it goes.

My 4runner came with Dunlops and the first time it took it on some challenging 4x4 trials I shredded one of em. Got MT/Rs now so I can go anywhere without worry!

Just as a general observation most of the people who like the tires are from the South and those that hate them are from the North. I'm going to assume most of the hate comes from their poor winter performance.
