  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today after I washed my car I noticed several air bubbles on my front end paint. The move around when i rub them. Its like there's a plastic film on there bubbling up?

Any ideas what it may be? I'm hesitant to pick at them for fear whole front paint job will be messed up.

Paint protection film? Does not seem to be the actual clear coat.

Hopefully just a clear bumper protector. You may be able to use a squeegee to press the water out and flatten it or just remove it since the glue is probably gone.

Thanks folks.

Yeah some kind of rock protector was my first thought when I saw it since it feels different than the hood paint.

My fear is that if I start peeling the whole front grill area it may make things look worse if it won't all come off. May just keep watch of it and see if it bubbles up more.

thanks for the input.

Was the car wrapped?

No idea. We're the second owner.

I complained to corporate Hyundai and sent them pictures of all the peeling and I got a semi canned reply about "how sorry they were" and gave me a case# to take to local dealer to review.

Took it in yesterday and lady was very nice and took a bunch of pictures etc and forwarded her report to Hyundai to review.

I have zero confidence that I will get any relief in fixing it, but at least was able to go on record about the shoddy paint job.

Note that this is same dealer who tried to get assistance in repairing the inoperable pano roof and that was declined by Hyundai even though they extended the pano roof warranty.

For fun I stopped by local body shop to get estimate and they came back with a $1900 estimate. (front and back bumpers repainted)

Your local body shop seems like an expensive alternative. The bumper covers are removeable.
Your local technical school system might be able to assign a student to it.

After 4+ weeks, local Hyundai shop that took pix of the peeling paint and sent to corp said Hyundai is unable to assist in getting it repaired.

Sad that so far with under 50,000 miles on my 2015 AWD, all of the issues I have are due to poor engineering or quality. Bent sunroof rails, propeller shaft out of whack and causing ticking sounds, now factory paint peeling.

I went from being in love with this car to pretty much hating it.

It might be an ideal time to sell your Genesis. Prices are high for low mileage cars this year. Our Toyota products don't demand very much repair. Maybe an Avalon would be a good replacement.

Indeed. CARVANA was going to offer me nearly what I paid for mine @ 60K mikes. I now have 99K.

Problem is car is paid off and we don't want a car payment.

Some days I do feel like just trading it in and taking that money and just buying some small loaded Elantra or something like that.

I got 22K cash for my 2015 Ultimate with 75K miles via Facebook Marketplace 2 months ago.

All markets are different, but it's not worthless.
