  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I think it would also be interesting to see this weighted on availability. Purple is the least popular, but what if we look at it as "Out of how many models that were available in purple how often was it chosen?"

It would still be last. The top five have not changed much for years. Genesis is unlikely to star shipping a lot of purple cars. Some lists combine gray/silver bringing the total to about 30%.

We have discussed the color issue here before. for decades prior to our current period dealers wanted to sell the cars that were on the ground at their location. Ordering cars and dealer trades were possible but selling from stock was strongly preferred. Thus dealers ordered the most common and inoffensive colors so customers would be willing to settle for white, black, or gray if everything else was to their satisfaction. The lower ranked colors were harder to convince people to accept. I would not take a green, yellow, orange, or purple car under any circumstance.

Which leads me to a question I have always wondered: If there were two cars, each identical in every respect, mechanical, interior, electronic, options, everything the same and one was white and one black would you say those two cars are the same?

If a salesman had one color and another dealer had the other color I believe each salesman would say whichever car was on his lot was the same as the other. What say you?

I'd say there were different and would choose the white. Other that white and black, all the other colors are subjective depending on shade. I did have a yellow car (with black top) ,a '53 Mercury and it looked good in the pale color. My Genesis would look hideous though.

I'd never buy a "red" car but did have a burgundy and a cherry red. Two green, but dark, like British racing green. I'm on my fourth blue right now.

Yes, some cars do look good and appropriate in the brighter colors. I had a 1973 orange Firebird and it was a "cool" car. But I would never buy an orange G80.

So yeah, I don't think we can compare car colors across all lines as equal. What was the top selling color for the VW Bug?

I traded my orange '07 Mustang for my white G80. I'm with you, I can't picture an orange G80.

I would have bought a black G80. They look so nice. But I don't want to wash my car daily.

I'm kinda looking those greyish putty colors.. some have a little blue mixed in. Looks good (IMO) bit it may grow old quickly.

Black and white are the most popular. The best overall color that hides imperfections and dirt will be “Silver/Gray” . As much as i like black you need a clear wrap to cover the exterior so it remains mint all through. I honestly wouldnt mind purple, it’s unique depends on how light or dark it is. Im not a fan of red at all but the red on the GV70 is just absolutely stunning. Ive seen like a light blue on the 2015-2020 model g80 and its a beautiful color.

I generally like white or silver. I would look at other lighter colors. My reasoning is that lighter colors tend to show swirls, scratches and dings less than darker colors. They are also cooler which is important in TX.

I prefer darker color interiors because they are easier to maintain. I prefer some of the nicer non black colors, but am OK with black. Tinting and cooled seats make dark color interiors comfortable in temperature.
