  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What do you want Genesis to do?

Provide the 100,000 mi power train warranty to second owners at least 3 years in arears. When you pay that much for a recent used car the mfb should honor the full warranty.
ALL warranties are sales tools. The bumper-to-bumper warranty is a sales tool - which is why it's 4 years instead of 3 years like almost every other manufacturer. Genesis is trying to build a market by offering a longer warranty. They don't do it out of the generosity of their greedy little hearts. Once they achieve their marketing goals you can expect the warranty to more closely match those of competitors such as Honda and Toyota and Lexus.

The 100k driveline warranty is to make the NEW car buyer feel "Jeeze they wouldn't do that unless this car is really super reliable.." Genesis could care less about a used car buyer. The manufacturer would really prefer if their buyers bought the cars at full retail, drove them to the nearest wrecking yard and had them squished into a cube. If it went out the door of the factory, got purchased at full MSRP, and was instantly destroyed is an auto manufacturer's wet dream. If a dealer takes a used one to put on the lot - say a 3 year old coming off lease - the car still has a year of B2B warranty, and the dealer can then sell the shlulp (victim, buyer) an extended warranty.

Then wait for the screaming about "no dealer in 200 miles" - what Genesis has to be more forceful about is getting more dedicated dealerships - no matter how they go about it. Make a bad dealer into a good dealer - it's certainly doable. While the manufacturers claim they have no control over dealership practices - that's legal BS. Holdbacks, trunk money, inventory allotments, all can be used to put pressure on a dealership. And since all the principals of Genesis are grown up boys and gals - I'm sure they know exactly how to use those tools.

There's only so much an automaker can do.

Kia is suing a dealer/owner for fraud (made up sales in order to get greater allocation during the pandemic), who then tried to hide it by selling his Kia dealerships.

The owner also owned several other brands which also engaged in fraud (further credence that it's the ownership group and not individual brands which are the problem).

Genesis won't do that as that would totally defeat the purpose of having a CPO program.

The concierge program was never tenable long-term as sales continued to grow; Genesis should have stuck to only offering it for its top line models - the G90, upcoming GV90 and the X.

Latest report is that the 2G GV80 based on the eM platform will be delayed by nearly 2 years, and that the life cycle of the current model will be lengthened and include a hybrid (no word on whether it will be an EREV like for the GV70 or a traditional HEV).

Stated from the start that it was a huge mistake for Genesis to eschew hybrids and to go straight to BEVs.

Yeah. BMW seems to have the sensible approach here, though I will admit at the time I thought it wasn't aggressive enough

This. I have friends that love my GV70 but will absolutely refuse to go to a Hyundai dealership. A lil "nose up in the air" but it is what it is and it's their prerogative. The Classic Auto Group in Mentor, Ohio has recognized this and just built a state of the art Genesis dealership down the road from their Hyundai dealership. I know a salesman there and he stated that sales have gone up as a result. They're double the distance from me and where I got my GV70, but I may go there for service anyway.
Juts purchased my 2024 GV70 from Genesis of Mentor & could not have been more pleased. It's nice that my shop is 10 minutes away

What's your vision for Genesis? The brand... What would you like to see them do? A new car? A new CUV? A new EV? What? High performance? Ultra luxury? What can Genesis do that would make you say, "Wow! I'm proud to be a Genesis owner - and I'm going to remain loyal forever."?
I bought a 2023 GV70 and I'm in love with it. However if you make the 3 changes below,
I will never leave the brand for another.
1. Build a Hybrid VG70. I'll buy one immediately.
2. Get rid of the gear shift. Replace it with a low profile palm shifter (fore and aft action)
3. Find a way of giving us 3 more inches of leg room for the rear passengers.
Thanks for listening.

My 2018 G80 3.3T recently started dropping my iPhone every time I shut her down. I had to reload the phone at every start up. I brought it into the dealer, and they determined yesterday that the radio's bluetooth feature is "faulty". I picked the car up today, and the navigation will not come up. The dealer says that once one component of the radio starts failing, it is a cascading effect, and other functionality will start failing. Has anyone else had this issue, or heard of anything similar?

Since all systems are accessed via the head unit (which they say will cost $4,143 to replace) I will eventually lose access to all controls and items accessed via the menu? Do I have a very expensive paperweight?

Sad to hear that. That is one thing I dread about cars, especially luxury cars is to have something like this happen after the warranty. But you should start a new post with this issue in the title and you might get some solutions.
Good luck.

Hi Genesis Owners;
I have only been a Genesis Owner since 2020 and so far I am in "love" with my Car! My Car is: 2013 Genesis Sedan 5.0L R-Spec 1st Gen and in the best color "Black"...I call her my "Black Widow" because with 425HP-375lbf-ft, she sure likes to "Scoot" down the road when the accelerator pedal is pressed..;-) For me; I too would like to see more independent Dealers, moving form under the "watch-dog=Hyundai Dealerships", who in my brief experience with some issues (Recalls) I had to bring my Car to my local Hyundai Dealership to have the Recall performed. Well, that particular Dealership was underwhelming; no new model vehicles inside the building, no newer advertising literature on all their vehicle line-up, including their Genesis Brand and very few staff (Salesmen, Manager..etc). While I was waiting that day I was at the Dealership for the Recall work, I approached one of the Staff members to chat about the new (N-line Models) and what he thought of them...well he was rude, no patience and/or interest in "chatting" with me. He even tried to dismiss me by claiming he didn't speak much English (I live in a Bilingual Province= New Brunswick, Canada), plus where I live in the Northern part of the Province that the % of citizens who speak French as their primary language is about 75% French and 25% English; but the majority of Citizens are Bilingual...especially at larger businesses, Government offices, Resteraunts..etc. So after trying to converse with him in English, I switched to speaking French...which made him a little humilated...oh well!! The other improvement for the long-term success, would be to partner-up with existing Automotive Accessory manufacturing Companies, to manufacture high quality "Performance" after-market parts. Because when I have searched online for performance add-on parts, there are very few...especially for my 1st Gen Sedan R-Spec!!

While don't think Genesis, much less Hyundai, will change/shorten its powertrain warranty here any time soon, Hyundai has shorter warranty periods in other markets like Australia and Europe where they have a strong presence.

Think in Australia it's 5 yrs and brands like Honda (which have seen sales plummet over there) offer 7 yr warranties from time to time in order to juice sales.

Speaking of warranties, Toyota/Lexus has had a rash of recalls/problems recently - including engines and transmissions grenading.

Not really surprising as Toyota/Lexus had launched a no of products with new powertrain components the past couple of years.

I agree... the Genesis dealership in Mentor OH is superb to deal with. Their service an₫ loaners are first rate. Personnel associated with service also exhibit first rate customer service. They exemplify what all dedicated Genesis dealers should be. By the way, their new Genesis only facility is beautiful.

According to the latest report, every Genesis model aside from the GV60 and GV90 will be getting a hybrid variant and/or EREV (which will basically be an alternative to.PHEV).

The HEVs should be powered by a next generation 2.5T HEV powertrain.

I am disappointed to hear Genesis is pursuing the hybrid. I wish they would just stay the course and perfect the EV, lowering the cost and working toward solid state batteries. I have no desire to own a hybrid and then have two power systems to worry about. PHEV and HEV vehicles never seem to have much power. Plus, you will still have to contend with all the maintenance that goes along with a gas engine, such as fluids, sensors, ignition, exhaust, tranny, differential, drivetrain and brake wear. For my needs, an EV is just fine, but they do need more range. I don't enjoy making oil companys rich.

Service Service Service Service Service Service Service
What is Genesis waiting for? Almost 4 years of loving my G80, there are no signs of Genesis even attempting to elevate the service facilities in the midwest. It's my understanding a very small number have been showcased in the US but Genesis has to rapidly open stand alone dealerships if it wants to be considered a luxury vehicle with luxury service experience. After 30 years of Cadillac ownership and always shown premium service, I expect Genesis to do the same. GM got in trouble because of their "silo" culture and if Genesis falls into that mode, the sales and marketing efforts are going to be erased due to unacceptable service. Train the people and provide the proper facilities, PLEASE!
Oops! Just read about Mentor, Ohio My midwest is central Indiana.
