  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any changes will void the warranty if there is any relationship to the warranty issue and changes you made. For example, if you change the exhaust, and your moon roof motor goes bad, then Hyundai cannot get away with claiming the warranty on the moon roof is void. But if anything goes wrong with the engine (even if not directly related to exhaust), they probably would "claim" the warranty is void.

What some people do is to make sure they can put the OEM parts back on if they need to file a warranty claim.

Just make sure you can easily remove whatever parts you add. Look at my build thread and at the mods listed on my wheelwell account. My Genesis is probably one of the more heavily modified Gen1 or Gen2 cars and just about everything I have done is reversible, at least that would cause a warranty issue. I will be looking at getting some more parts made for the car - stay tuned to my build thread for more information.

In short there isn't much aftermarket support for these cars because the demographic of people that buy them to modify them is non-existent. Through various events and social media I am hoping to draw more attention to the car as a performance platform and we'll see what develops from there. For now, modifying the car in any way is an expensive proposition.

How many miles do you have on your 5.0? The Exhaust note changes around 1500 - 2000 miles. Drive it like you stole it up till then. It is amazing how the sound changes.

Technically any mod you do is arguably a warranty issue. As mentioned, the only way to avoid these issues is with removable parts. If you are looking for sound, I would unbolt the central exhaust system and replace it with a bolt in in custom made electric cut out unit. This can easily be swapped out to the original and gives you the best of both worlds. Dead stock silent or screaming loud or any where in between. Here is one done on a Gen 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2a0vjHyUCE&feature=youtu.be
