  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all,

Have a question about my 11' Genny 3.8 Sedan, was washing it the other day and noticed this antenna mounted on the undercarriage on what appears to be the fuel tank...did some research online and on the blogs and found no info. Getting an oil change/tire rotation next week and going to see if the service tech has any info.

Thanks,

Either you have some friends at the NSA keeping an eye on you, or it's the antenna for your keyfob. ;)

Antenna??

My 12 doesn't have anything that looks like that.

Could it be an errant, still attached welding rod? The robot might have been having a bad day.

Looks like a dried out goober.

It is a vent tube from the battery compartment in the trunk.

went under the car, its clearly an antenna marked "RHF" and attached to the vehicle..!
Maybe big brother is keeping an eye on me! lol

FYI... Does look like a tracking device.

Strange, very strange..now im concerned.

Possible that it's what Hyundai was talking about a few years ago where they want cars with OEM Navi to communicate locations with one another?

no ones Genny sedan has this installed?

Whatever it is, it's not meant to be there. I'll be interested to hear what your dealer has to say about it.

Thats not the fuel tank, its the area that the spare tire and battery are located.

I so totally want to make a gov't criticizing post on this, I'm practically wetting my shorts. (In fact, I have about 200 like probably most others on this forum.)

Obviously, that does not help the OP.

My '12 3.8 base does not have anything like this. Wish I could help.

I think you've got someone in Myrtle Beach who's trying to track you.

I checked the various electical diagrams at www.hmaservice.com for a 2012 3.8 Genny and could not find anything remotely resembling that big ole antenna hanging out of the bottom of your car.

Googling "RHF antenna" brings up several sights like this one (http://www.diamond-ant.co.jp/english/amateur/antenna/ante_3hand/ante_hand1.html)

You might try an experiment. If there's an electical connection to it, try disconnecting it and see what happens. If the black cars w/tinted windows stop following you, you'll know what it was.

Do you have JO JACK? I could not view original picture posted.
