What is this button?

All right: I created a thread to ask a question and then immediately realized what the answer was. So my new question is the last question in the thread, i.e., how do I delete a thread I created?

Someone asked the same thing just six minutes ago.

I do know that you can click "edit" and delete the message but blank stays in place. Don't know how to completely delete.

Oh, okay. Once I realized the answer I just thought it might be a silly question. But:

I was wondering what the button with the lit indicator was:



...and just after I posted, I realized it toggles whether the interior lights come on when you open the doors. (Its purpose would have been clearer if the pictograph thingy included a light icon in addition to the open door.)

I do know that you can click "edit" and delete the message but blank stays in place. Don't know how to completely delete.

I've found the site complains if I remove everything in the message – it won't accept a blank message. So my approach for now is to replace the original message with an ellipsis (...).

Ah, but it's a button...so what would the button do, then? Plus it's overhead, where you don't typically look for an open-door alert...
