  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,

Can somebody help me to properly name this thing which seems to be falling under my engine. It's cloth like material which seems to be protecting components from below from dirt and stuff and seems to be hanging by a thread.
My quiestions:
1. What is that piece called, so I can ask for a quote from mechanic to replace it
2. What would be fair price for replacement if you know
3. How urgent is replacement?

Thanks,
G

I think that this thread should answer your questions, and as long as you have to get new covers anyway, you might as well upgrade to the ones with access doors. Probably yours weren't put back on correctly after your last oil change and have now been damaged. The newer covers with access doors don't have to be removed for oil changes, so this would be less likely to happen again in the future.

What is official name what I need to change so I can call mechanic and explain what needs to be changed?
