  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Equus (or whatever it will be called) is set to launch later this year. I would assume we will get US specs and pictures no later than June. My question is will they keep the waterfall facia, the current Genesis facia, or something entirely new. Whatever Hyundai decides to do it will be a safe bet that the 2011 Genesis will follow with a simular design. Hopefully they will get rid of the hood ornament.

Assuming they keep the Equus name and logo, HMA has said they will ship the car with the flat badge by default and will provide dealers the ornaments for customers who want one.

Any Equus customer who gets a hood ornament had better buy more than one. Hood ornaments have a tendency (to put it mildly) to be stolen in the US, even in upscale neighborhoods. On some very expensive cars, the hood ornament will now recess into the hood when the car is turned off.

I'm not a fan of the current grill.

As far as hood ornaments go, I think on RR and MB even have them anymore...

Why isn't this in the Equus forum?!
Please...
Post in the right areas so I don't have to come here and move topics to where they belong...

Hood ornaments are waaaaay old. I haven't seen any in a long time. I think Jags were the last ones to use them. Regardless, that's great it's being offered as an option, 'cause it would have been the first thing I would have removed.

I owned an 83 Mercedes for 15 years and the same hood star was on it when I sold it. I was amazed that it lasted that long.

Yes! Mercedes know how to make a hood ornament classy. The slight tilt on the E series is timeless!

Here is the Rolls Royce retracting hood ornament:

I recall grille design was a big deal before the Gen came out. It is one of those things they spend many hours researching!

I showed current designs to the most discriminating of customers, my wife. She is not a fan of the current Equus grille designs, or badge either. If she doesnt like the grille we dont get the car.

The Hyundai site has both a horizontal as well as vertical grille pictured. Anything that looks like a Lincoln is DOA.

I agree with your wife's taste in grills. Cars are fundamentally horizontal objects to me... and major styling bits that are vertically oriented just look wrong to me. And grills that fill the bulk of the whole opening with chrome or plastic ribs offend my engineering sensibilities: don't cut a hole in something and then nearly fill it with stuff to block it again!
