  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,

New to the forum and new 2015 3.8 Tech Caspian Black owner as of two weeks ago.

I was doing a quick cleaning of the beige leather with Lexol and was wondering which parts are leather and which are pleather/vinyl.

Specifically the armrest, door trims, back of the seats etc...

Thanks in advance.

The 2015 3.8 Tech says "Ultra premium leather seats", while the 5.0 says "Ultra premium leather seating surfaces".
I see no mention of armrest, door trims, or even leather dash, like the 12, 13, & 14 has, with the Tech package.

Just wondering if I should just be using an all purpose cleaner on the armrest, door trim etc... instead of leather cleaner/conditioner.

I use chiefly AMMO products. they are safe for both genuine leather and synthetic materials. expensive but well worth it IMO.

Yeah, I was watching a video by Auto Fetish Detail where he uses All Purpose Cleaner by Meguiar's for everything (diluted of course). It's available here in Canada so I may just order some.

Thanks

oof, good info in those videos, but good god that guy rambles all over the place, most of his 45 minute videos could be more like 15 and still get the same info across

It's a love/hate, I really can't stand his personality but according to him, he knows his business so...lol

I was wondering the same thing about my "new to me" 09 Genesis
It's has the black and saddle dash and trim. Can't really tell what is leather and what is vinyl or fleather

The dash inserts are leather. Not sure if the seats are 100% leather, especially in the back of each seat.

I use Mequire's leather conditioner wipes on all the surfaces.... seat, center armrest, center console sides, door armrests, headrests, dash and even the wood. Keeps things looking beautiful.

Thanks. I was thinking just that brown insert was leather just wanted to make sure to use the right detailing products on the right places

Hyundai was absolutely kwaaaazy to omit the beautiful leather dash from the Gen 2 models.

Lots of interior cleaning products are good for both leather and vinyl/pleather.... I had fretted over this too then decided I'd buy a cleaner that works on both. However, if you buy a decent quality leather cleaner it definitely will help clean the pleather/vinyl stuff too. Now, when it comes to the harder plastics, I'd definitely use a general purpose cleaner of which there are many to choose. If it'll clean the dash (top) it'll definitely work on side door panels, seat backs, seat sides, etc. etc.

Good luck with your search.
