  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lately, I have been noticing that at about a minute or two after starting the car, I hear a single ring that sounds like my cell phone's ring tone. However, nothing comes up on the car's screen nor my phone (phone doesn't register a missed call, either). Any suggestions except for gremlins?

Ejection seat. Armed and ready.

From the engine? Front end?

Post a video of what you're talking about, then we can compare with our own cars.

Too tough to do as it is a single ring that appears to come out of the blue. But, does appear to be up front in the cabin. I'll try to pay more attention the next time.

Out of the blue, IE random? Or everytime you start the car?

It happens when when moving or parked too?

Does it sounder like the chime reminding you to take your phone off the wireless charger after you turn the car off?

Happened again tonight. I have a flip phone. It's in my pocket. shortly after the car starts, there is this ringing...just once. I immediately press the receive call button on steering wheel and also check the phone for either received or missed calls. All these checks show nothing. Perhaps, the ring is to tell me that the phone is connected to the car (bluetooth)???

Happened again this morning when I started up the car and put it in reverse to back out of the garage. However, I was ready in that I had re-set the phone to different ring tones. Idea was that if it was the phone, that single ring would sound different. Well, it didn't sound any different! Luckily, the car was being picked up by the dealership to have the updated SD Nav card (13.5) installed and to have the stained window trim replaced. of course, I ask the dealership to check out the ringing. Stay tuned.

What model of phone do you have? Best guess here.... your phone is older (flip phone) and has an old/dated version of blue-tooth which is causing this communication issue between it and the car. Try using a newer phone, the wife's phone, etc. and see if this still happens.

Maybe you are just getting the sound when it successfully pairs with the car each time the HU turns on. So a connection notification.

Why don’t you just keep the phone out of the car when you start it and see if you hear anything.

Also when you are starting it are the windows open?

The phone is a flip phone (I'm computer literate, but choose not to be bothered by an iphone).

Don't really know if this ring is a bluetooth communication issue between the car and the phone. Although I only have the car for about two weeks, this ring thing is only a few days old. And, the ring doesn't appear to be coming from the phone and it isn't an alert that a call is coming in. Yes, it could be "notification" of some sort, but it just started???

The windows are closed. However, great idea about seeing if ring occurs if I don't have the phone with me when starting the car. That will have to wait until the car comes back from servicing. BTW, they left me with a brand new G90 loaner...what an impressively beautiful battleship of a car...not used to such big cars.

Got car back and started without phone...no ring. However, when i sent the car to Genesis, i sent it with instructions about the ring...however, never got a reply on this issue.

^I'm sure the ding/ring is just a notification, like when the phone is connected via Bluetooth and you get a message or something.

Either way, we will only make sloppy guesses until you record a video of it happening.
