If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I just bought a 2012 Genesis 4.6L. I wanted to know how soon do I have to buy the Hyundai Platinum Extended Warranty for it to be valid? 10 days? 30 days? 60 days?

I have seen recommendations to contact Jim Ellis Hyundai for a warranty plan cause they have good rates, so I plan to call them. Do you have to buy the warranty in your state?

You can buy the warranty in any state, regardless of where you live. However, in some states like Florida, they have regulations about the pricing since they consider it to be insurance and insurance is regulated in that state.

You can purchase the Hyundai HPP Platinum extended warranty from any Hyundai USA dealer. Generally the price goes up the older the car is, but so long as the car is still under the manufacturer warranty (5 years - 60K miles), you should be able to buy the extended warranty. You may be required to submit the car to an inspection, depending on its age.

Called Jim Ellis and was told that since I'm a 2nd owner I can't get the wrap around warranty that covers the engine and transmission because my car was not CPO. I was quoted though 10/100K/100 addon to the my current mileage for $3000, I believe it was HPP. I was quoted 7/75K/$100 for $2495 HPP as well.

I might try a local dealer to see what I get. I wish I could get those $1000-1500 warranties you all are getting.

Those are the prices when the warranty is purchased for a new car.

There are several factors that make it more expensive if you trying to purchase the warranty close to when the manufacturer's warranty ends:

  1. Based on statistical information they have, they know that when people delay the purchase of an extended warranty, there is a greater likelihood of problems that exist with the car, and that they will have more warranty claims filed on such a car.
  2. When you purchase the extended warranty when the car is new, they have "use" of the money you paid for warranty for 5 years - 60,000 miles before any claim under the extended warranty can be filed.

Mine was CPO, but I got it for $1,250 a year ago. Car had 30k miles and they didn't inspect. Hope that helps.

Mine was new and I got a Platinum zero deductible 8yr / 85K plan for $1250.

Just received a quote for HPP 10/100k/0 for $3300. That $2400 quote isn't looking so bad now

Mine was just under the 4 years old and I got a Platinum zero deductible 10yr / 100,000K /0, plan for $1199. It was what they sold their employees and friends.

Well how can I get in on this deal? What dealership was it from? I'll email a finance manager for a quote.

Base on the Official Hyundai Warranty site, I probably won't get a 10/100/0 plan under $2000. It looks like those plans are for cars under 10,000 miles, according to the sites calculator. So far the best deal for me with 36,000 miles would be around $2400-$2500. That's about right from the quotes I'm receiving for local dealerships.

That sucks!!

This was my second car I bought from them and the GM remember me. So we started talking and he said he would give me what his employees would pay. I am in southern Calif. He does not ofter this to other customers.

I was quoted by a dealer in Orlando $2188 CPO Wrap coverage (100k or 48 months, 0 ded.) for my '15 Genesis 5.0, through "US Warranty". Anyone have experience with this type of warranty? Is this what Hyundai dealers use?
