  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Okay I have not been checking out this site as often (as when I got my Genesis last summer) so I apologize if this has already been covered...

I was at the dealership today and they had my same 2009 Genesis on the show room floor but with one key change -- no brown inlay on the black leather dash. I wonder when this running change was made?

There are only a few things I would change on this car and changing the brown leather inlay to black - for a complete black look - is #2 on my list! It was gorgeous!!

I am curious if this was in response to early feedback or what...

I think they're still offering the brown/black. Some cars just come w/ all black and have been for quite a few months now. At least that's what I remember reading on Edmunds when they talked about their Long-Term Genesis which has an all black dash.

I have titanium with black / brown inlay. Just bought it 3 weeks ago.

It was a November 2008 addition. Based on early feedback from US customers Hyundai added the black on black option. I have the black/brown insert interior, After seeing the black on black interior I am glad I ended up with the black/brown interior, The detail of the leather seems lost in the black on black look.

Its just the way its ordered, I had to go (through my dealer) to IL for a Pearl White, with cashmear seating with dark leather inserts (dash, doors) I have not seen one other with out the lite brown. Again how the dealer ordered the car

I think the black on black is only available on the V8.

I'm glad to hear that brown/black is still optional. I can see why some might like the black/black, particularly with a black interior, but I think the brown trim is very distinctive and upscale looking. I drove a gold, chamois-interiored 4.6 that had black dash trim, and it thought it was a very unattractive combination...since the tan interior color is "brown family", it clearly looks better with other colors in the same family. The black blended in with the molded black door- and dash caps, and almost looked like a mistake.

Well, I was at the dealership today to get the airbags reprogrammed and I finally got to sit in and examine a Genesis w/ all-black interior. I was quite surprised to see the seat stitching on the all-black interior is contrasting. The stitching is a very crisp looking white that runs along the edge of the seats where the perforated leather meets the non-perforated leather. On my car (black/brown interior), as well as another on the dealers lot that had the black/brown interior, the stitching is a charcoal gray.

Just an interesting touch that gives the dark all-black interior a bit of interest. I wonder if it was just a fluke or if they're all like this? The Genesis in this pic doesn't have the contrasting stitching (Link: http://www.netcarshow.com/hyundai/2009-genesis/1600x1200/wallpaper_19.htm). Granted, the pic is of a pre-production model (look at the area below the cd player). Either way, I really liked it, but I'll keep my black/brown! :)

My black/black (Nov 2008 build) has charcoal gray stitching. I agree that white stitching or the brown insert makes the leather stand out. Otherwise, you may not notice or appreciate the accent. On the other hand, one of my co-workers commented on the leather dash immediately, so go figure.

Weird, I wonder why this one had white stitching on the seats? Maybe it's a running change they made mid-model year?

Don't know...my seat stitching is gray too, but I don't know if that's specific to my model (3.8 w/ Tech) and the standard leather, the color scheme (black/black), or the manufacturing date.

Well FWIW, both cars I looked at were 3.8 non-tech models. I'd assume that they were manufactured sometime between 1/2009 - 3/2009.
