  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If you had it to do over again.

All things considered is the 3.8 worth the difference in MPG this car will be a daily commuter averaging 90 miles a day all highway.

I had a 3.8 Track for serveral months (with a cold air intake and cat back exhaust) and I now have basic 2.0 Turbo with a cold air intake and cat back exhaust. Both are great cars. For 99% of the driving I do I find that the 2.0 Turbo is more than adequate. If you like the feel of power then go for the 3.8. I hope this helps a bit.

Cheers.

I'm now averaging 30mpg in my 3.8 GT. I do mostly 70% highway / 30% city. If this were turned around and doing more city than highway I'm sure it would be down around 24mpg or so.

I recently took a long trip (all highway) and was able to eek out a 31.2mpg (calculated) but there were very few hills and my speed was 80mph.

If I had it to do all over again I'd still choose the 3.8. The power, extreme ease of driving and the sound really makes me smile.

Edit: Oops. I guess I should note that I have a K&N filter with the charcoal filter removed. That is my only mod at this time.
