  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

On my 2018 G80 Ultimate RWD running Michelin Primacy mxm 4, 245/45/R18 original equipment, almost 30,000 miles - no problems. Looking at the tires, thanks to your message, looks like the tires have plenty of skin to carry Annie and me on our 1,000 mile road trip down to Coalinga, CA and return to home next month.

Does the 2017 G80 5.0 come with 18s from factory, or did you switch them over?

Chicago gets snow. When I was in CT I bought Nokian WRG3 for both my Sonata and Genesis. They have a true snow rating but are designed to run all year anyplace in North America. For my driving I thought they were best as they had a good ride and snow performance.

Thank you so much for this info.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 are also good all season tires.

I have Michelin Pliot Sport AS3+
Great ride and grip also very good. I have no experience with snow but I think tirerack rate it not bad compare to other tires

What are you looking for in a tire? How do you drive? What conditions do you plan to drive in? If you're in a cold climate, do you intend on getting winter tires?

One word of caution. All-season tires are only 3 season tires in the northern states that get snowfall, and Chicago gets plenty of snow. I have a set of Vredestein Quatrac's on my wife's car from Tirerack, which give a really nice, smooth, and grippy drive in dry & rain conditions. However, even though they're 3-peak rated and have winter tire siping on the inside half of the tire, they're just not as good in the snow as the 3-peak rating would have you believe. Better than most all-seasons, but still not winter tires.

If you need to do a lot of driving in snowy conditions, you should really look into getting a dedicated set of winter tires, like the Nokian Hakkapeliitta's, and get a separate set of all-seasons for spring/summer/fall. One wreck due to loss of traction in the snow will be much more expensive than the extra cost for a dedicated set of winter tires.

All-season tires, 18" wheels : Vredestein Quatrac-5
Winter tires, 18" wheels: Michelin X-Ice
All-season tires, 19" wheels (I don't use winter tires for this size): Continental ProContact TX
