  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi I need some help with this!
Car: 2009 Hyundai Genesis Sedan

Timeline:

Nov 2019- car won't start after sitting at airport for 2 days- started with jumpstart

Dec 2019- car won't start after sitting at airport for 5 days- started with jumpstart

Jan 2020- Had battery replaced

Feb 2020- Had alternator replaced

Feb- 2020- car barely starts in the morning if I don't drive it for 1 day.

Feb-March 2020- local repair shop runs parasitic drain test on car for several days. Inconclusive. They replaced some wires.

April 18 2020- Car doesn't start after sitting for 1 day. Doesn't start after charging for 10 minutes with jumpstart.

Anybody got an idea what's going on?

Thanks

It's all guessing without taking measurements. My best guess is a parasitic drain that they have missed, but that really isn't a very good guess due to the distance involved.

That is my guess too. Even a cheap battery does not go dead in a day or two with no drain. You may need a better shop to check it.

It won't tell you what the drain is but you can pretty much verify that is the problem by taking off a cable if the car is going to sit a couple of days.

Thanks for reading and for the tips! I will take a look at the rubber stopper tomorrow and see if there's anything fishy going on

I took the car to the Hyundai dealership and the battery test failed right away. So I went back to the original shop and got it replaced since it was still under warranty. It's odd because the battery has supposedly been testing fine when it was previously checked (by the shop that sold me the battery). The car seems to be starting well now so we'll see.
