  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone use this? I tried it a couple of times and found it much more annoying than useful. At least it doesn't have to be used like the adaptive part of the cruise control.

It is helpful when I am tired and on a long, monotonous road trip.

I have a cousin who bought the tech package on his '12 3.8 specifically for this feature and is about to take his first long road trip. It will be interesting to see his comments after he returns home. Will advise.

Personally, I don't use it. Too many nannie-techs in the Genny. I keep 'em turned off. If I can't feel it in the seat of my pants it isn't useful to me.

I turned mine on once just to see what it would do. If I were on a long trip I might try it.

Hi All,
when I get Off Duty @ around 0500hours, I use the LDWS along 5miles of country lanes.. Fun & somewhat Useful..:D

It isn't worth much to me. Can't hear it if the radio is on and haven't found a way to increase the volume. If anyone knows how, please let me know.

I turn it on in conjunction with smart cruise control whenever I feel sleepy.

I haven't used it much. I got new 2013 in February and used it a few times. Kind of distracting. I probably will use on long trips..especially night driving. It can prevent weaving.

Ditto. I often go over the line to the left when passing a truck on the highway. I don't need the nag.
But (in reply to your comment) I love the ACC on long highway trips.

Like a few others have said here, I find it useful when I'm tired or (tired) and alone for long distances. Please note, I didn't say lonely! This LDWS is actually far less annoying than my 2011 BMW 5-Series was because it gives more margin.

ditto on the too soft sound. I wish I knew how to make it louder.

I can barely hear it, but other than that, I turn it on if I'm feeling less than attentive. I realized after using it for a few minutes the first time I used it that it was another GIBE feature (Good Idea Bad Execution), like a few other features on the Genesis.

Bit of a mixed blessing for me. I usually forget to turn it on, and the times when it would be most beneficial are usually times when I don't want to wake the wife and kiddo (though it could be argued that getting into an accident would be the greater of the two evils).

Incidentally, I have a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid on order for wife, and I'm interested to see how the Lane-Keeping system works in practice. Instead of just being a departure warning, the car will apply steering corrections to keep a car in its lane.

I do when I take a long road trip. and also when I use it with the smart cruise control..

I use it when I'm on the highway which is very infrequent. I'm sure most Florida drivers would find it very annoying since it needs to have the turn signal activated to keep it from alerting you. My unofficial survey determined that 95% of Florida drivers don't know where their turn signal is.

That includes Police and Sheriffs as well!

Cousin reports it is useful but the audio signal is very low and virtually unhearable with the entertainment system on.

I would agree with that. Plus, changing lanes is almost a continuous event on our local freeways so the constant chiming, even at that low level, would get irritating quickly.

Pretty much worthless since you can't hear it unless you have no other sound in the car. Side blind alert in the mirror would be a much better option.

In my BMW, the steering wheel would "buzz/vibrate".

The wife damn near wrecked the car the first time she felt it go off. No more lane departure warning for us.............

In my household that would be a moth flying in through the window.

I just traded mu '09 non-tech package Genesis for a "13 with the package. I've done a little experimentation with the LDWS on short trips, but will give it a full test this weekend when I make a 9 hour drive from Virginia to Cape Cod.

The manual says that is only works above 45mph and I haven't had much opportunity to drive a those speeds for any length of time in the 2 weeks I've had the new car.
