  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Who's planning to get the GV80 Coupe?

I'm the first to admit I'm not a big fan of coupe-like SUVs. There are precious few that seem to have been able to pull off that swooping roofline in an SUV form that doesn't look contrived and awkward.

And I don't think I'm 100% convinced that Genesis has managed it either....

BUT...

after checking out some YouTube videos about the GV80 Coupe, I must say, the new seats do look pretty nice. And they're finally giving the front passenger the same seat that the driver gets including Ergo-Motion. The steering wheel looks slick as well. I'm not sure if I like the big single-screen design but I'm glad that the screen has a thin bezel unlike the Mercedes screens.

I can't imagine getting a "sporty" SUV with anything less than the most powerful motor in it, but if I recall correctly even the electrically-supercharged engine from the G90 (which is going to be offered with the Coupe) only puts out about 405 hp. I've driven a G90 and while the power delivery is incredibly smooth I think the Coupe needs something like 450 to 500 hp to back up its looks.

What do you folks think? Is anyone here considering it?

PS. Here's Alex on Autos' walk-around of it.

I like it, but like most things, I'll need to see it in person before I can truly know.

Fair point. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person at the local launch event which I believe is in early spring.

I don't think the profile style is anything special. Cover the grill and it could be an upgraded Ford Maverick

I think I agree with that. The side profile seems to be the least well-resolved from a design perspective.

Found these on the global website. The first 3 pictures look pretty decent. But that last one does seem odd.

Also, I'm not sure I like that large screen. More a fan of a digital cluster and separate, largish nav screen like in my current GV70.

I agree, but unfortunately it looks to be a direction they will be going not only on the GV80 refresh but potentially other models as well. Yikes.

When Audi decided to go touch screen only, I basically made up my mind to never buy another Audi (after having had 8 of them).

I agree on the Audis. We've had A4 Allroads for years, and I looked at the the A6 Allroad in 2021. The all-digital controls killed that idea instantly. Luckily, the 2021 A4 Allroad still had the separate dedicated climate controls, so we went with that. But now I'm so spoiled by HDA on the Genesis, I doubt if I'll look at another Audi anytime soon. The Audi demands a twitch of the wheel every 15 seconds so we rarely take it on road trips.
