  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Why does Ipod reset after a couple days of listening?

I've noticed while listening to my Ipod through the Usb connection on random play that it will reset when I start the car back to the first song on my Ipod and start all over:confused:

I thought I read in another post that the system will continue to drain the battery when the car is off? Is there any truth to this? If so anybody know how to prevent this from happening?

That's weird.
I only have an iPhone, which was kinda annoying connecting/removing every time I got in and out of the car, so I haven't tried mine much.
I don't notice this kind of problem with the jump drive I have connected all the time.

My iPod won't reset even if it's been in the Genesis for a couple of days. It's only done that when I've disconnected it then reconnected it later. I generally don't play my iPod in random mode anyways.

I had the same problem - the iPod would not shut down when the car was turned off and the battery drained. When I started the car the next morning, the iPod would reset and I would hear the same first track every time. I discovered that the iPod was not shutting down was because I had a relatively early generation iPod and I guess the Genesis does not interact with it properly. I put a more recent generation iPod in the car and have never had the problem since. If your iPod is more than a year or two old, I suggest investing in a current model.

Yes, I believe you are right that the problem is with older ipods. I read about the problems people were having, so I decided to see for myself at the dealership. To my relief, my ipod (a 1yr old 120GB Classic) shut down on its own about 3 minutes after the car was turned off.

I have an 80 GB iPod that is at least 3 years old and it works fine. Shuts down and picks up where it left off, except if I open the door too quickly after shutting the engine off (and if I get the door open chime sound when that happens).

Thanks for the responses guys!

This makes sense as my Ipod is the old 30 gig model from about 2006/2007

Well I guess I'll have to deal with it for now until I get a new model?

Thanks again
