  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will the radio out of a 2013 RSpec with touch screen work in a 2012 RSpec without a touch screen?

Good Evening Folks! Hope all is well!! So...I went junkyarding last weekend; mainly looking for some items for my LT Swapped 88 Buick Regal. Anyways; I stumbled across a rear end totaled 2013 RSpec, had 31000. So I grabbed the headlights, radio and dashboard (mine is cracked from the Florida sun). Anybody know if the radio will work in my
2012...the 2013 has the touchscreen. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

R-Specs don't have a touchscreen, they have DIS.

I would just stick with the head unit you have if it's the touch screen Nav system. The R-spec head unit, as stated by Steve2020, is not a touch screen and uses center console mounted control knob. I personally would rather just have the touch screen. I think the DIS unit has a few more features than your touch screen such as maps that can be updated without a trip to the dealer but with smartphone technology, who really uses vehicle Nav systems anymore? To answer your question though, I'm not sure they are interchangeable. I'd be more interested in snagging that 31K 8 speed transmission!

I tried my navigation once to go to an out of town Sam's Club once. I knew where it was but I was new to the car and wanted to see how accurate it is in case I ever got out somewhere without phone service and needed it. It took me 8 or so miles away to the middle of a residential neighborhood with mazes of streets and I ended up having to use my phone gps to get to an area of the town I recognized, lol.

No, probably not. They're completely different.
