  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, I'm buying new rims for my Genesis GV70. The front tire size is 21x9, and the back size is 21x10.5. I'm positive the 21x9 will fit in the front, but do you guys think 21x10.5 will fit in the back?

And an additional question: what would be the best tire size for 21-inch rims? I want them big enough to fill the gaps but small enough to ensure they don't rub on the inside and have perfect clearance.

SPECS

BRAND - Road Force
MODEL - RF15
SIZE - Front 21x9
SIZE - Rear 21x10.5
Bolt Pattern - 5x114
OFFSET - Low to High (According to vehicle)

Welcome. This topic has been moved to the Genesis GV70 wheels forum.

So since they machine the hub to a custom offset, any reputable tire shop should be able to advise you the appropriate offset to ensure flush and not rub. That said, can't recall if someone has gone as wide as 10.5 in the rear. 10 for sure. 9 in the front is no issue...that is stock width of OEM with +43 offset. All that said, how flush it is or whether there is poke depends on tire width. If tire is wider than the wheel, then that has to be the basis for offset calc to get flush. If they are pretty much the same you can use the wheel. If you are doing a stretched look, then definitely use the wheel.

For tire size, go to tiresize.com. plug in stock size and then you can play with new size and it will compare width and diameter and show how speedometer would change. 10.5 wheel is usually 11.5 when you add the lip. That's a wide tire if not going for stretch. You can also look up specs on manufacturer tires to see the width. Some don't provide, some provide tread width and some provide just section width...section width is what you want to look at...it's width the sidewall.

If you have the gv, get it up on ramps and go under and measure space between tire sidewall and suspension components and rim and suspension components. The use stock wheel size to start adding width and shifting out or in via offset to see if not would work. Eg. Stock 21 wheel is 9". Going to 10.5 means extra 1.5" in width, half on inside and half on outside. So, without messing with offset yet, look at stock wheel and see if you add .75" to outside if it would be flush or poke. And .75" added to inside...touch any suspension components or lots of clearance?. If both are good, then factor in tire width and do the same. Then if tire good, then play with offset to make it flush. Eg +43 is stock so let's say you figure 10.5 is going to poke by .25". That means you need to raise offset to bring them in (unless you like poke...i dont), by .25" = 6mm, which means offset required is 43 + 6 = 49. Then check if you still have clearance on inside to move in by .25". Again also check tire.

Hope this helps.

Oh and when deciding on tires, check the size you're considering for availability, options, cost. With my 21" after markets which is square stance, going from 255 stock to 265 40 21 massively increased tire options and decreased price.
