  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bought a new 2025 G70 in January. My only real complaint with the car has been excessive wind noise/whistling coming from the passenger side of the windshield, door or sunroof. I thought about taking it back to the dealer but it’s difficult for me to get there and I was sure they’d either tell me it’s normal or they’d start tearing things apart and make it worse.

Meanwhile, my dealer in Raleigh (Johnson Genesis of Cary), who got the car I wanted from the dealer in Charlotte, sent me an email with a link saying I had lifetime access to the CARFAX for my new car. I looked at the CARFAX and I discovered that while the car was in Charlotte it had a glass repair at a shop that specializes in windshield replacement. Obviously that made me think the noise came from whatever work had been done.

I poked around a bit and discovered that the vertical plastic molding with weatherstripping on the passenger side (pictured below) had some play in it compared to the drivers side. Evidently it has four clips that snap in place but it wasn’t properly snapped down. Applied a little pressure and all four clips snapped down tight. Wind noise gone! 😊

Wow! Glad you were able to fix it. What really sucks is the non-disclosure of the windshield replacement.

I thought about that but I’m thinking that my dealer in Raleigh who sourced the vehicle from the dealer in Charlotte may not have known about it.

Either way, I probably would have still accepted the car. Trucks on the highway around here are terrible - I had to replace the windshield in my 22 Pathfinder six months after I bought it.

Great job. Thanks for posting.
