  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey All,

I'm a new Genesis owner. I have a 2016 3.8 Ultimate package in white and I love it. When I purchased it, I noticed the windshield was replaced and since it looked good I didn't think too much of it. Now that it's been a couple of weeks, I started doing research on it and I think they just used one of the cheapest ones available. For those of you that know, can you please tell me if they used the right one. Everything seems to work fine (so I thought). The rain sensing wiper feature however does not. I'm hoping it's something as simple as maybe they didn't plug something in, but I haven't had the chance to take it to the dealer to get it check out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The windshields a few years back were running 1800-2300. They are expensive because they are multi layer laminated special for the hud, camera, ect. Everything needs to be re calibrated when installed. the windshield wiper sensor is up at the top. Turn to auto after starting the car and throw a glass of water on the windshield infront of the rear view mirror.

The PGW on your glass is Pittsburgh Glass Works. The glass on my car has a Genesis logo on it. Auto makers often use more than one supplier so I can't say for sure it is not OEM or meets OEM specs, but it at least is setup for the HUD.

I just had my windshield replaced a few weeks ago at Safelite, through my insurance and I am not happy with the aftermarket replacement. I have a 2015 Ultimate 3.8 which has HUD and the display is now blurry which wasn't like that before and I have all noticed that my radio reception AM and FM is not good with weak signals and more static on stations i was reconvening clearly before.
Also i had read a post about how someone else's windshield had cracked and mine was exactly the same way - never heard or saw anything hit the window but it just cracked on the passenger side a few inches from the top and at first it was maybe 6 inches in length but grew to half way across the window before i could get it in a week later for repair

Any thoughts on the blurry display or radio issues would be appreciated - taking the car back on Tuesday after i speak with my agent

IIRC there is a HUD windshield and a non-HUD windshield. Perhaps they used the wrong one. Perhaps they don't care. Of course you should demand they make it right no matter the glass source. Insurance companies are notoriously cheap, but they paid to have it done right and should help you.

I' thinking if you drive a couple of weeks with a fuzzy HUD, you may not see that rock falling from the overpass and it could break this windshield too. Check your policy as some have limits.
Good luck.

I actually noticed the blurry display almost at once, just havnt had time to take it back. I also noticed the radio but didn't connect that to the windshield until recently.
