Windshield

OK, maybe just bad luck, got hit again today and the windshield cracked. This is going to be the 4th windshield since 2 years of ownership.
Will be going to get it replaced again at the dealership and thankfully will be covered by the insurance minus the deductable.

The reason for this post is to know if there is any other 3rd party windshield manufactures that make a "more sturdy" windshield? The Genesis one seems to crack and chip even at the smallest of hits (once again, may be my luck and/or the low riding height of the car)
It is more of an annoyance to setup the appointment with the dealer who wants to "inspect and give an estimate" prior to ordering one as I am going to be using the insurance - which they say is a must and no, it cannot be done on a weekend.

Not sure for the G70, but I just got a Fuyao windshield in my G80. I can’t speak to the durability yet. But I can tell you it is noisier than the OEM Saint Gobain. I think it is thinner but not seeing them side by side I can’t confirm for sure.

When I did my windshield...had to go OEM b/c of the head's up display. If you don't have that...you could go non-OEM (I think).

No HUD. The brochure for our cars say it uses an acoustic laminated windshield. Wonder if the new bug eye G70 has any changes to the windshield. Probably not.

How did your windshield get damaged rmod? Gravel truck? These truck drivers are usually required to cover their loads for safety purposes. If you can somehow identify the truck company, highly recommend to file your insurance company to them they are liable for the damage.

This was a farm transport truck. I take the highway 402/401 in Ontario, Canada to and back from work and for some reason there is always road repair work going on which leaves a lot of debris on the road. So every time I pass another vehicle, its hoping that I don't get hit on the windshield. My front bumper and some areas of the hood and the front right quarter panel have many chips and scratches. I don't care about that, the windshield is more of an annoyance.

On a side note, got an estimate done ~ $1700 Canadian! They say that it has to be an OEM glass as they cannot calibrate the lane keep assist camera if a third party glass is used....and they quoted $250 CAD for the "calibration".

Call your insurance company? Still cheaper to pay the deductible and have it replaced by them.

Edit: You can also look into those protective films for the windshield. Some are marketed as heat and UV protection, but some are actually meant to protect your windshield from chips and cracks.

Yep, going through the insurance as before. I will look into the protective films. Thanks @Bhavie
