  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As part of our Aero package development http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=15153&page=5we needed wings for the rear.
Since the spoiler compound curved wings don't fit flat against it.
We did a prototype, mold, then cast a pad that is in compiance with flat wings on the outside and with curved spoiler surface on underside.
While at it we thought it could be cool to lit the pad with 5 LEDs in red . it would create glow around the wings .
Not for sale just something we did on a weekend.

sheetmetal for structural stability and Bondo.

3d - Silicone rubber mold poured over prototype .
4th- Transparent plastic cast in the mold.

Since the title of the thread says "Wings like you never seen before"....the link from ebay contradicts that and is valid. Had you said, "2015 Wings like you never seen before", then your claim would be valid (I assume). Just sayin'...

Should be. I saw some wings on ebay but since they did not have this for the 2015 emblem I made my own based on their design.

+1 and +1

It's amazing to me how much people focus on the negative and ignore the meaningful stuff. Mr Z built an awesome led lit rear wing emblem from scratch and everyone is knocking on him for a slight inaccuracy in The title of his post. His intentions are not to lie about the truth and try to sell the item for profit. He made something cool and is sharing it with us. Thank you Mr Z.
As for the rest, it sometimes helps to be less uptight and more fun. I feel people in this forum are just way too serious.

Nothing to do with meaningful stuff here. The title boasts or suggests how he made something no one has ever seen before which suggests it was his idea. Nobody is knocking him for what he did in fact it looks like an excellent job.

Guys, come on. Can we please act like adults and take this for what it is? Its a cool, trick, invention for a new model year car. I am in no way defending either side, but lets keep it loosely professional please.

OFG

LED emblems are not my thing but it is nice to see that people are taking initiative to create something that hasn't hit the market yet for the new generation Genesis.

Not a fan of the lighted emblems, wings or other boy racer stuff which only perpetuates the budget car status the Genesis is attempting try and shrug off.

If you have installed the smooth white led, that would make it look more luxury. Just like the new Mercedes's are doing with there star :)

You say not for sale...come on.....how about just a few? I would love to get 1 of these....Amazing....I take it since you did it yourself the pegs line up with ours? Or is it just held in place with only an adhesive?

Well, color is personal preference. In this case we concieder DOT regulations - can't have white color on the back of a vehicle. :)

Thanks for the kind wirds, but I'm not selling anything here.
Our work is financed by Hyundai dealer from Houston,TX.
They will offer everything as a dealer option for new car sales.
it would be up to them whether or not to sell to individuals.

As far as pegs and way it is held in place go:

You may have noticed that these 9" wings are mounted to our spolier, not to the trunk lid. Spoiler has different curvature than lid, so the lightened pad
has a unique shape to comply with it. and it is held in place by 4 studs/nuts.
We did not use adhesive .

As for possibility making something like this available for the stock trunk lid,
for you as individuals:

I would need an order of 10 pieces min.

How much it would cost brake down:

Using the subject of this thread as an example:
It took 30 hours to develop this product and approx. $150 in materials and $200 prorated shop rent. 30 hours @$50 per = $1500.
So the total cost to have one unique item made is $1850.

if we new that the total # of items we can sell is 10 we would have to charge
$180 for each to break even.
My experience with this kind of deals is if 10 people on a Forum are willing to pay upfront we can count on another 10 sales after the GP ( Group Purchase)is satisfied.

That brings the cost of each item down to $90.

If there is a vendor's order for 100 pieces we can tool up for semi-mass production methods and drop the price down to $70 per piece.
order of 1000 would result in $35 per. and so on.

So , to make one - $1800,
to make 20 (GP) - $90 e.o.
100 - $70 e.o.
1000 - $35 e.o.
+ S&H depending on individual ZIPs.
