Winter tire alternate size

I’m looking at some winter tires for my 2015 3.8 AWD. I have used minus sizing on my Lexus before and was happy with the results. I’m looking at using X-Ice XI3’s in 225/55R18. This size isn’t listed as an alternate size for the Genesis, probably because of the diameter being 1” larger than the 245/45R18. Both my Discout Tire manager and I don’t see any reason it won’t fit and the speedo being off 3mph won’t bother me at all. I’d rather have the additional sidewall height this size offers for potholes. Anyone run this size or see any reason it won’t work?

i think someone else was running a 235/55R18 as a snow tire on this board. The reason I remember this is that I had those on a different car with our same size 18 inch tire and they were fine, and was considering using them on the Genesis, but never did even though a different owner was using that size as snows. But that was like 2 years ago I found the post.

The 235/50-18's are only 27.3" diameter, so only 0.5" bigger than the stock tire (vs your 1" larger diameter).

They worked great on the other car as a -1 snow tire
