  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

While I've read a lot of remarks concerning noisy wiper blades/arms, I am wondering if anyone has noticed any clearance problems with driver's-side wiper arm and underside of hood. While checking the oil, I noticed that the driver's-sider arm (the portion bolted to the shaft) has a flat spot on its edge where the arm is rubbing the underside of the hood. A corresponding wear spot on the underside of the hood is paintless and shiny as result of contact with the wiper arm. It appears that the hood hinges are set too low causing clearance problem and wiper arm to rub the hood. My wife reported a squeaking noise of the wipers during a long trip, but I didn't understand why until discovering the rub marks on hood and wiper arm. Could this also be the reason why so many owners report noisy and erratic arm movement?

No such problems. If your blades rub on the hood, they need to be adjusted. Take it to your dealer for adjustment.

same, not have this problem.... I would have the dealer resolve that issue.

I have the same issue. Anyone take a stab at making this adjustment yourself? My thinking is that the hood is fine but that the shaft that the wiper blade arm mounts to sticks out too far.
