  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone messed with our DRLs? I want to rewire the highbeams(DRLs) to only turn on when i turn on the high beams not always on. It looks better with just the LED Strips on. I don’t know if it’s possible if it’s not i might just unplug my highbeams and say screw it.

So I will admit to not having firsthand knowledge with this particular Genny - BUT - if it holds true to other Hyundai models - including my 2011 Azera that I had, and the 2015 Genny - you SHOULD be able to rotate the stalk to the parking/marker lamps location - and then you will only have the LED strip. Of course you need to have the ignition on at this time.

As a bonus - both my Azera and the Genny would also turn OFF those lights when the ignition is killed and the door is opened and closed. Meaning - you can just set it there and forget it. Until it is dark - then rotate it 1 notch forward to headlights (NOT auto!), and then rotate it back 1 notch (NOT off!) when you park. This is how we all used to turn the headlights on years ago anyhow - until someone decided the cars should be smarter than people.

Basically - using only parking/marker lights and headlights settings. Not OFF or AUTO. Give it a try - see if it works. It even works on my current 21 Highlander.

This is all well and good, but the eyebrow accent lights are not bright enough to serve as proper DRL lamps. That duty is performed by the high beam lamps which burn at 50% brightness when they are in DRL mode. The purpose of DRL lamps are for you to be seen by others, not so you look cool to yourself out on the road.

But at 3pm i don’t need the DRLs for my car to be seen, i can understand during the morning but not in the afternoon. There is no reason to burn my highbeams out faster just so they can constantly be on. If i wanna be seen i’ll turn on my actual Hid’s

See if i’m correct(my genny has been in the shop for a few months now replacing engine) on my 2012 genesis that marker just turns off the Leds/Eyebrow lights. The DRLs are always on until i turn the car off.

Good luck unplugging your high beams intentionally and staying safe without them. I owned a ‘12 Genesis for 12 years and never replaced ANY lightbulbs. Last I saw her in early February she was being lifted into the sky at a Carvana vending machine.
