If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wireless carplay poor phone quality on GV60 23

Same issue here and know of others as well. Is there anyone we can complain to? Seems like a genesis issue but not sure if they or apple are in the best position to fix it. I've got latest iOS and re-paired it but nothing seems to fix it other than back to wired carplay.
fyi i put in a customer support ticket through the app on this. if others do the same they’ll know it’s widespread

I had the wireless Carplay in my Mach E as well as my Nissan truck. Had similar issues so not really sure this is a Genesis only problem. I solved the issues by using a charging cable to USB port. Not worth the frustration and headaches. I have a I-phone Promax 14. Upgraded to IOS 18 and went and tried in my truck. Still a problem.

just going to bring it back with a new datapoint, apparently zoom calls are fine

No issue on Android Auto but I haven't updated to the lastest version that includes the September security patch and now I'm afraid too...

I'm also having the same problems. When I use wireless carplay to make phone calls, recipients often can't understand me. This is immediately resolved if I switch my phone to speaker or go back to plain old bluetooth. Sometimes I can resolve the issue by toggling carplay on/off but the problem seems to come back. I never thought to time how long it takes for the problem to resurface, but it feels similar to what others described above.

I had this issue with my previous iPhone as well as the new iPhone Pro that just arrived.

My guess is that there is a wi-fi quality issue between the phone and the car.

Has anyone figured this out? After the new update, the phone works for about 1 minute, after which point the other person on the line can't hear me.

New iOS update released a few hours ago but currently traveling so I will not be able to confirm if it helps with any of the wireless CarPlay issues. I think it’s the last nav update that is the issue, not the phone since it has happened with different phones on different OS and on different vehicles. Common denominator is the latest nav update that enabled wireless CarPlay.

The new iOS update didn’t help me. I went back to a wired connection

did you test the wired connection yet? i find i still have the same problem whether it's wired or not

I was under the impression that once you install wireless apple car play or android auto, you could not use the usb cable like before the wireless update.
that's what i thought, too, but i'm able to connect with a cable if i disable wireless and bluetooth--though sometimes it randomly kicks me off. it didn't help me anyway, call sound still distorts after a time

I was so excited to get the update! It connects super quickly, the maps integration is fantastic. My only two issues: the siri text messaging isn’t great. Siri cuts off, spins, doesn’t hear things. Even bigger issues: the person I call can’t understand me. I was on the receiving end of one of these calls from my husband and he was garbled to the point he had to use speakerphone. Same thing happened with my phone when I called my sister—she couldn’t understand me.

Anyone else? Or advice on how to fix? Unfortunately once you “upgrade” you can’t use the cable to connect
Genesis customer service responded to my ticket and we tried some things that worked! At least for 2 phone calls, I don't know if it will hold. For reference, I'm on the latest ios 18.0.1. We:

Inside the car I clicked "Forget" for my car in my phone's bluetooth device list
Disconnected the bluetooth on my phone
Put the car into Accessory Mode
Held down the Map and Setup buttons approx 10 seconds or so, until the car reboots and the Genesis sign comes up on the screen (hard reboot, but shouldn't affect settings
Once rebooted into Accessory Mode, started the car for reals
Turned bluetooth on my phone on
Went into the Setup/Device Connections into the Add Device Screen
My device was already there. I tapped "Add" anyway to put the car in pairing mode so the car showed up on my phone
Paired on my phone

From there, my phone asked if I wanted to use CarPlay. I said yes, it showed up on the car and I had two 3 minute calls with no issues! FWIW, it looked like after everything reset, once my phone connected to CarPlay, the wifi was turned off (not by me). It did that both times.

Sadly, I went through these steps on my spouse's phone and wireless CarPlay won't work on his phone at all. That may be because he did some somersaults to get back to wired, or it could be something else. He's on ios 17, not the latest 17 either

They also suggested getting in touch with Mapsoft, the people responsible for pushing the update. The number is (888) 757-0010, you usually have to press 2 and then...something else, apparently I didn't write it down 🫤

Since the latest Genesis update the echo issue on phone calls that I had earlier this year unfortunately seems to have come back. Whenever I make a call over wireless CarPlay, I can hear my own voice on my end. The person on the other end doesn’t seem to hear it. This is with the latest iOS, 18.0.1.

You just need to delete your phone from the Genesis device setting. Then just connect with wired

This DID work for me today after receiving the OTA update for nav and CarPlay. It’s not intuitive or simple and Genesis sure could have done a better job of making it clear that you should clear-out your old setting. However, it works and I like having the new V2L option on the EV menu. CarPlay now comes up when the iPhone is in the car automatically, I have not yet tried making calls, but will report back. I’m sure glad GMA added this in after all this time.

hopefully the last post i have to make on this. DO NOT reach out to mapnsoft. it's infuriating. none of their contact forms work, and the phone menu takes you to apple carplay only to tell you to reach out to genesis

i reached out to genesis again and was informed there's a software update coming out this month. the tech didn't know what it would address, but i'm hoping it fixes the issue. btw my previous fix failed the next time i was in the car

I was having the same CarPlay phone issue and had switched back to the connected version. This morning, (10/24), a new audio OTA installed that was almost exclusively CarPlay related. I’ve done only one test with a 2 minute call so far but that call went fine. Maybe it’s fixed??? Hope springs eternal! 😆

Omg! Can’t wait to get the update to show up!

I got it today and went through hell trying to make it work. I spent 40 minutes on the phone with genesis tech support. Unfortunately the tech knew nothing and I wasted my time.
Eventually I made it work. Had a couple of long phone conversations through wireless car play and did not experience any of the issues other users reported.

Ugh, sorry to hear that you had problems with this. My experience was seamless so I’m curious, what iPhone/iOS are you using? I’m on an iPhone 16 running iOS 18.01.
