  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70
Is anyone holding out for the next model year or even 2021 to see what improvements are made?

From what I can gather, the only change for 2020 may be an automatic trunk and possible an infotainment upgrade.

What would you most like to see or what is most likely to come to fruition? Curious to see how many, if any are going to wait it out.

I'm looking for a manual so really just holding out a bit to see what happens with the existing 2019s, if they get more aggressive on lease rates/cash, etc. I adore the relative simplicity of the G70 so hope infotainment is left alone, it's a clean easy system that doesn't need to get overly complicated...but I am somewhat of a luddite when it comes to cars and as such am an outlier in the segment this car plays in

Nothing wrong with the infotainment. Just needs a re-skin and a higher resolution screen.

I suspect the 2021 to be a mid refresh of the car, bringing to the new Genesis brand language found in the new/upcoming G90 and G80/GV80

What do mean, exactly, by "brand language"?

Not at all my cup of tea, but this is what the new flagship looks like. I'm sure the interior is as spaceshippey as the outside. Car designers cannot get out of their own ways these days...it looks like all of the worst most overwrought cues from Lexus and Acura had a love child and spawned this, then stole Volvo's eyes.

I forgot the terrible Lincoln taillight and wheel design. Yuck.

my wish list or '20 or '21 changes: 0, zero.

i already own. if they did make changes to address the couple minor gripes or add features which i valued, i'd be annoyed. so i hope things stay as is. power trunk is not a concern for me. i certainly expect adjustments for the mid cycle refresh which should be ~'22, but that is reasonable.

2022 will be the mid-cycle refresh for the G70. We'll probably know what coming cause the KDM one will have it half a year or more earlier than the Canadian ones and then the US ones.

^ I did it about the same time as you as well. My wife rarely drives my car....like...very rarely. She drove it last night. I stared out the dining room window like a sad puppy as she pulled away. FIRST time I saw the LED bulbs from a distance. Fme they look absolutely brilliant. Also...since there are no G70's here...it has been months since I have seen my car from the back...and side and she pulled away. It truly is a hot fing car...I just fell became obsessed again (I dropped to love level).

I also saw when she came back. I left the dining room window for a squirt and a beer refresh. Again...what a car.

Also...to note...no windows open. She only drives in Comfort. As she pulled away...I can tell she hit it a bit. I TOTALLY heard the exhaust...and it sounded great. Based on that...I am happy with the stock exhaust. Wish I was on the front porch to hear it.

Anyhoo...that is my obsessive update...for now.

Slightly softer front seat, seat cushions on the Sport. They're very hard now.

Well, more backseat legroom and a slightly bigger trunk would be nice, but that would require structural changes, so.... I can think of a few changes (some would probably be simple software edits):

* Display the climate control temp settings all the time, not just when you change the setting.
* Allow the heated seats to be turned on when using the remote start.
* Remember the heated seat setting when the car is briefly shut off, and return to that setting automatically when you start it up again. Most other premium cars do this.
* Speed up the damn processor. It takes like 20 seconds after you start the car before it will play music or do other things.
* Put proper semi metallic brake pads on all the models, not just the limited Dynamic edition.
* Put a courtesy light inside the center console arm rest, storage, so you can find things in there at night.
* Allow a second USB outlet to be used for data. Right now I have to choose between my thumb drive for music or the phone's USB cable for Android auto.
* I would REALLY prefer a rotary dial on the console for using the infotainment system. The touch screen is a huge distraction and requires you to take your eyes off the road. I got quite used to doing things on my 3 series without having to look using the idrive wheel.
* Default to displaying something other than NO AV on the screen.
* Allow us to disable the automatic door locks.
* Improve the accuracy of the Avg MPG readout. Right now it reads nearly 10% above the actual mileage. That's a pretty big error.
* Make the wipers continue to work while in auto rain sending mode when the car is stopped or moving very slowly. Right now they just stop working and you have to activate them manually while sitting in traffic.

That does not sound right. Never had a car that did not continue to work. With less water hitting the windshield they will slow down, even stop if really light, but always started again. Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity?

I never have either, which makes it even more annoying. The sensitivity is usually set about mid scale, shouldn't have to adjust it to get them to wipe. They start wiping again once the car starts moving.
